Overview
A Custom Track Jam (better known as CT Jam) is a competition where participants have a designated amount of time to create a custom track related to a theme. The length of time is typically four days. It was originally created by BillyNoodles.
Choosing a Theme
- A large set of themes is first polled. Four of these themes are selected by the CT Jam Team to appear as options in the public voting, as well as one theme selected by the host of the Custom Track Jam. A public vote between these five themes will then be held publicly in the Custom Track Jams Discord server, where the theme with the most votes will be the one utilized within the following CT Jam.
The Aftermath
- When the time is up, players will then send their custom track (as a SZS file) directly to the host of the Custom Track Jam. The track files will then be displayed for voting, hiding the information about the author's identity. People can then play and vote on all the tracks themselves. The track with the highest average score is the winner of the Custom Track Jam.
Seasons
- Each season of Custom Track Jams lasts for five Jams, with one Jam in the season being a co-op Jam. There is usually also one Special Jam per season.
Special Jams
- Occasionally, what is known as a Special Jam will be held. In some cases, the theme is still voted upon publicly by the server. However, in other cases, the theme or twist is pre-selected by the CT Jam Team. These special themes and twist will vary depending on the Special Jam.
CT Jam Rules
- 1. No teaming up (unless stated otherwise, such as for a Co-op Jam).
- 2. You cannot use any 3D models created before the CT Jam for the Jam.
- 3. You can only use your own models.
- 4. You can use Nintendo objects and specially selected custom objects.
- 5. Submission must be a Mario Kart Wii custom track.

Turbo Jam
Turbo Jam is a Custom Track Jam spin-off competition series created by Whipinsnapper, where participants have two to five hours to create a custom track related to a theme with a restriction.
Choosing a Theme
- The theme is chosen partly by the participants, and partly by the host. The host chooses possible themes and restrictions, and the participants vote on one of the themes and restrictions. After the theme and restriction are decided, the Turbo Jam will start.
The Aftermath
- When the time is up, players will then send their custom track directly to the host of the Turbo Jam. The track files will then be displayed for voting, hiding the information about the author's identity. People can then play the tracks themselves, and vote on each track using a five-star rating system. The track with the highest score wins the Turbo Jam.
