Mediafire and copyright claims
Delete an unneeded page
As of today, Mediafire has been removing lots of custom content related to MKWii (and that seems to be the only Wii game affected). I've had a texture hack and a model hack removed, and plenty of custom tracks have vanished as well. I suggest trying a different site, maybe your own webserver if possible.

The group involved is Kapow Software.es (who claim to be related to Nintendo, but their own site doesn't list Nintendo as a partner, but instead lists Microsoft).<br>--Digital Monster, Guilmon35249vr 22:20, 15 October 2012 (UTC)

:Volcanic Skyway 4 was also removed from Mediafire by the same company due to a copyright claim, and my account was immediately suspended. As such I am revoking the release of Volcanic Skyway 4 entirely, until I can use a patching system or include it in the next version of CTGP-R. I will not continue to upload to any more websites as I do not want to risk being sued or having my YouTube account suspended. If anybody would like to mirror the download, you may do so at your OWN risk. --BigOto 04:11, 20 October 2012 (UTC)

::*Many others have both uploaded these hacks & tied them to their YouTube accounts theoretically, and have not received suspension from YouTube.
+
:--maczkopeti (talk) 21:57, 1 August 2015 (UTC)
::*The same company, "Kapow Software", was hired to delete all content/modifications (With the addition of un-official expansions) from of the game, The Sims 2.  All YouTube videos of such modifications still exist, while the files are now hosted elsewhere.

::*Along with the list of deleted tracks, were deleted ISOs and Roms of both Mario Kart 7 & Mario Kart Wii. It should atleast be considered that their filter perhaps mistook Custom Tracks or in game data, seeing that dozens of downloads are still up like these: DS Waluigi Pinball, Cloud Carpet, 3DS Piranha Plant Slide, Codename: BIGBOX, Magma Island (And the list goes on)

::*BigOto's MediaFire account was suspended completely suspended, likewise most others who had multiple deleted files. The reason: The filter most like caught a certain file and thought it was an ISO. After then examining the the the account it found multiple files which shared similar data, which a stupid filter would flag as bits of the ISO thus leading to suspension.

::*Certain custom tracks were taken down for allegedly being a direct file from the game itself, which only brings the filter further to the conclusion that it had made mistake. Most likely the filer had searched for a long string of data. For example, it may have searched for the data from Mario Circuit. Since this filter was probably programmed to think that the ISO or files may have been split up, it would search for all objects in Mario Cicuit, which flagged the track Volcanic Skyway V4 for containing the objects "Castleballoon > Itembox > Castletree".

::*Wouldn't you think think that out of all tracks, Magma Island would have been deleted? Not only is it literally named "volcano_course.szs", but it is un compressed in a zip archive, and is simply Grumble Volcano with a re arranged KMP! (And new model, of course)

::*The email anyone received that they believe was "Directly from Nintendo" was not. Examine closer, [email protected], not [email protected] (Although some people have claimed to receive some from "@NOA", which further strengthens the idea of a confused partnership). Just look, the system and/or the person who sent that email obviously doesn't understand how to edit models in BrawlBox, much less even play a custom track. Their filter flagged a track as a piece of the game, send email, done.

::*It is improbable that they directly searched any YouTube videos or the Wiki itself. All they would have had to do here is search "MediaFire" and suspend all.

::*Lastly, we do not know that Nintendo is directly involved. With MegaUpload's demise, most file sharing Websites have either shut down public sharing or have taken extra precautions to not go the same way. Ever considered that they perhaps have a list of un wanted files so they then contacted Nintendo to get their support? I hightly doubt only Mario kart was effected, as they most likely emailed you about the deleted files within the category your violation was in.

::With the WiiU coming up, 1000s of other hacking communities existing, and millions of dollars to be made, why would Nintendo even give a care about us? Just on small hacking community in the large pool of Brawl-Zelda-Galaxy-64-DS hackers? No. I'm pretty sure that if Nintendo even cared we would have heard from them a lot sooner, and the CTWW would have been disabled by them not allowing external regional races. I recall an overreaction by me when the whole SOPA thing was pending, and this is no less. Obliviously FBI agents aren't going to pull up to your front door and take you away to prison for piracy. Itembox.brres is impossible to use really with a KCL, Model, & KMP, with the addition of a copy of Mario Kart Wii and a Wii. So what on earth could somebody use Itembox.brres without a Wii? "OOh, Distribute over the internet and make millions of dollars!" (No). Obviously we have not received any auto updates, patches, or anything else to prevent us from what we're doing now. Nintendo has moved on from the Wii, seeing that they're letting the hacking scene grow even larger and now that Wiis are no longer manufactured, with the addition of the 3DS, WiiU, and other possible future consoles. No other File sharing website has been effected, no other websites have been harmed. In comparison to murder or theft, distributing Itembox.brres or other related files within an archive full of your own creations that require the purchase of Nintendo products to operate legally is relatively small. It is indeed a law, but nothing Nintendo seems to care about anything that could potentially harm Nintendo because you can't re construct a whole ISO from several custom tracks. And if one choose to use these files with an illegal copy of Mario Kart Wii, then that's where the threatening problem is, --SuperMario64DS 19:32, 20 October 2012 (UTC)

Broken download links
: My (Wiimms) Story:
+
I have recently been reuploading broken download links as some of you may have noticed via the recent changes page. At the same time, I also compiled a big list of pages where the download link was down and I didn't happen to have a file on hand. I just wanted to put that list here for all to see. For the benefit of the wiiki, I will put it in a spoiler.
: My old track directory contains 52 tracks. Mediafire warns me about 5 tracks. I "dismiss"ed all and made immediately the complete track directory "private". All 52 tracks are still available. No more notice of Mediafire.

: Today I have uploaded 61 tracks in the new patch file format. No reaction until now.

Also, I am in no way asking that every single link here should be deleted, I understand that some of these links are historically significant in the Custom Mario Kart community. I'm also not asking to be a moderator for this, I'm just, as they say, raising awareness. If anyone has the files to these downloads please put them in their respective pages too.

For my character kart wii, it has 2 downloads. however, there is only 1 download PLACE for 1 LINK. The second one doesn't show AT ALL. Even when I put it in the same box, The names glitch. and since 1 is 4shared, unclickable text saying "[4shared.com]" appears and unless I remove the link WILL NOT LEAVE PERIOD!!!!!!! Seriously...?

:I already made a hidden category named Download, though it doesn't show texture hacks currently; I need to edit that.

Almost no one used the second link for mirrors, so I removed it from the misc info template. Because of that nothing displays in the Download 2 field.  Instead post your mirror elsewhere in the article. ALSO POSTING IN CAPS AND USING EXCESSIVE PUNCTUATION MAKES IT LOOK LIKE YOU'RE SHOUTING!!!!!!! DON'T DO IT!!!!!  SERIOUSLY!!!!!!!--Jefe 22:54, 28 November 2012 (UTC)

I plan to create some pages to prainse some gurus of the scene (Chadderz, MrBean, Wiimm, BigOt2 for example). So I need the page 'Chadders' separated from 'user:chadders'. And I think, there is a logical difference about both paghes.

* 'user:Name' is a self description of a the wiki user 'Name'.

* 'Name' is an encyclopedia page about the scene person 'Name' written in third person.

I think, it is generally a failure to redirect 'Name' to 'user:Name'

Hello,

I think the Wiiki should make a new Rule which is like this "The CT Creator can edit his own page as muc has he wants and can put his video on it. It doesnt matter qhich quality it is, but when thers a video with a better quality they can put it under the owner's video, and the owner can decide rather he wants the video or not"

: I disagree. This wiki is like almost all other wikis: It is an encyclopaedia, but with a special theme (MKWii custom) &rArr; Each article should give the best information. And this includes best videos and realistic videos (dolphin is only a software, which emulates something similar like a Wii).
+
I wanted to swap the same file but with a different name but I can't. I tried what it said me to do.
: A track author will not become the owner of the article, because he writes the first steps of it. The community is the owner!

: However, a track author has generally more right for a article about its product (not only tracks), but there is no reason against replacing videos/pictures/words by better videos/pictures/words to improve the article quality.

:Wiimm (talk) 21:53, 3 November 2013 (UTC)

::Sorry , but I tend to agree (Typos aside). Not sure how often/when something like the case with Magnetic City has occurred, but the track owner should have 'ownership', and should be able to chose video he/she likes for their page. Clearly ‎XBlue98 did not want Torran's video on their page, and that decision should be respected, quality aside (To a certain degree). I believe it went too far with this comment by Torran:  " Unfortunately, the creator cannot determine which videos can be on his/her page. ". I see it as an utterly useless restriction and in the least appears to have been put in place in favor of Torran's YouTube account. Knowing Torran, I can clearly see that this is not the case, but not everyone will see it that way. Rule #8 in video etiquette doesn't make much sense either. While Dolphin may not display smaller details such as Mipmaps (In addition to omitting visual errors, which a secondary video may cite), sometimes it's simply the best quality a track creator can provide. Look at it from this point too: They don't want to advertise somebody else's YouTube necessarily. And with that, maybe they want their friend's video up instead of yours ('You' meaning anybody). In the end, the track creator should be granted jurisdiction over the content on their page, if they want to advertise their track with a video filmed on a digital camera at 5 FPS, then let them do so. What's stopping Moderators from later on deciding you're no longer allowed to use the word 'unique' on a track page, because a moderator disagrees and says it's vaguely similar to another? If it is truly coming to a point where we cannot decide what goes on our pages, then I'll quit. --SuperMario64DS (talk) 22:02, 3 November 2013 (UTC)

:::Restrictions on Dolphin should be obvious enough. Graphical effects, game freezing, and slowdown effect are not reproduced by Dolphin. Therefore it is not an accurate method of recording videos. The strictness of the rule has been lessened so that it won't apply for single videos, but I believe that the restriction should stay. As for "page ownership", I'm willing to respect the creator of the page, to a certain extent. Removing videos from a page because: a) You wish to hold a monopoly on the page, b) You wish to gain suscribers, views, or ad revenue from the page, are not acceptable reasons. The Wiiki and its contents exist for the community, not for the individual. --Torran (talk) 22:20, 3 November 2013 (UTC)

Here's my take on it.  I think there is a place for the author's chosen video in most cases.  The author of the track sometimes has certain ways they wish to present their level, show off certain things they did, like new objects, nice camera work, etc.  Track pages are allowed a maximum of three embedded videos, and as long the author's video shows a unique game mode, version or perspective, it should be listed as one of the three videos. If the author's video doesn't show anything unique, or violates the other guidelines, or is just very poor quality, other videos should have priority. In that case, the author should be allowed to add a different one that fits within the guidelines.
+
I was trying to upload a file with a different name which looks exactly the same as the Boo.png with a different name. The website detected it to be identical to said file and I was trying to find a way to delete it.--MiniGeek2000 (talk) 17:23, 26 June 2019 (UTC)

Also, I strongly disagree with the new rule that says videos must not be emulated.  While I agree that a video capture from an actual Wii or Wii U is preferable, it is just barely so.  Emulated videos are often higher quality than video captures and rendering errors are usually pretty minor.
+
: Well then why do you need to reupload it if it is identical? Why not use the existing name, or move the file to its new name? -- Leseratte (talk) 17:25, 26 June 2019 (UTC)

I think we should consider videos in this order:
+
: I wanted to make it a name for a cup but someone else has used a file with the name I was going to intentionally use so I named it Boo.png then I tried naming it with the name of my custom track pack with the name MiniGeek2000's Custom Track Pack Boo Cup.png because I wanted to have the name Boo Cup displayed on my custom track distribution without having to deal with any file conflicts. *Shows a unique version or mode (online play, vs bots, split screen w/bots, and replay cameras are all good, time trials are not.)
+
: I moved the file name to its new name like you told me. This move to a new name feature I didn't see at first but thanks for helping me.--MiniGeek2000 (talk) 18:01, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
*Does not contain distracting or offensive intros, audio, mods or hacks.  "Vanilla" MKWii with game audio is better to show of the features of the level/character/etc. but not essential.

*Shows at least a full lap, round or all relevant features.

*Is at least decent quality (360p).

*Is direct video capture, not emulation or a video of a tv or a monitor.

2 Questions about Texture Hack Distribution
:I strongly disagree with your take on emulation. The fact that some creators only test their tracks on Dolphin, find nothing wrong and release it, only for it to not work on a real Wii, strongly suggests to me that this privilege is not worth having. Not to mention that it effectively allows the creator of the video to hide any of the more pressing issues of tracks such as freezes and slowdowns, videos are meant to demonstrate the track, as well as demonstrate any flaws that it may have. In that regard, I have no other issues with what you have proposed. --Torran (talk) 12:12, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
+
Hello, I wanted to release my own Texture Hack Distribution but I have two concerns about it.

::You have a valid point about bugs and slowdown, I didn't consider those in my post.  Track creators should always test their tracks on a real Wii, whether or not they have the means to record video that way.  In those cases it is a good reason for someone else to post a Wii video and append a bug report to the page.  Most bugs of that nature are quickly discovered by the community, and someone typically posts a bug video or a notice that the track does not work on a real system. So taking this into account I'd change the guidelines to this:
+
1. Can I release the texture pack with no announcement whatsoever?

::#No more than 3 embedded videos on any page. Tutorials and Distributions are exceptions.
+
2. Do I need to ask permission from the creator of the texture hack of that track?
::#Custom Track Videos should show Online Play, VS or Grand Prix mode. Do not use Time Trials mode, as it does not show item boxes or buggy item or CPU routes.

::#Videos should shows at least one full lap, round or all relevant features.

::#Videos should be of at least decent quality (360p).  Direct video capture from a Wii is preferred, especially for the primary video.

::#Primary video should not hide major flaws, including issues on real Wii systems.

::#Secondary videos should show a different play mode or an older major revision of the level.

::#Videos should not contain distracting or offensive intros, text or audio, or excessive modifications or hacks.  "Vanilla" MKWii with game audio is better to show demonstrate the features of the level/character/etc. but not essential.

::#Ports and remakes can include a video of the original version of the level.  Videos of subsequent ports to other games can be included as well.

::#The video title must not praise the author of the video. (Video by VideoGloryGuy) Instead the title must describe briefly what will be shown in the video. (V1 or V1: Replay Cameras etc.)

::*For special videos, use one of the following keywords:

:::#*bug for bugs and glitches.

:::#*tutorial for tutorials.

:::#*original for videos of the original versions of ported and remade tracks.

::# Embedded videos should link to the track's Wiiki page instead of a direct download to the file. This is to ensure that people downloading the track will get the most current version of the track instead of an old version.

::These are guidelines, remember, not hard-and-fast rules.  Even in the scenarios you described, the emulated video by the author should be bumped down to the second or third slot if available, not necessarily removed. --Jefe (talk) 14:27, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
+
Thanks in advance! and sorry If I posted this in the wrong place to ask. --SnorgUp (talk) 09:46, 23 February 2020 (UTC)

:The rule against the emulated videos was made due to the amount of people hiding the "Harry Potter effect" with Dolphin. Dolphin also can hide/create mistakes in the Shader part of the MDL0 and in the worst case scenario the track can freeze on the Wii but not on Dolphin (Baoulettes even managed to make a Track freeze in Dolphin but not on the Wii). A temporary Dolphin Video is allowed but this rule was also made to "force" people to test their Tracks on a regular Wii before they release it.
+
:For the first one, I don't know, I suggest doing the thing anyways.
 +
:For the second one, that depends of the creator of the texture hack. Most are fine with just crediting but few may want permission. --FancyDoesCustomTracks (talk) 14:13, 23 February 2020 (UTC)
 +
:: The Wiki rules explicitly allow you to include content from the Wiki in your distribution (as long as that's released on the Wiki, too), so there is no need to ask creators for permission as long as the tracks you are using are available on this wiki. -- Leseratte (talk) 16:02, 23 February 2020 (UTC)

:Of course I agree that Torran "overreacted" about the 25 fps Video. 25/29,97/30 fps, 4:3/16:9 and 360p/480p/HD is totally fine.

: I understand all positions. The most important argument is: This a public Wiki and no one gains the ownership of an article.
+

: This main rule and the ideology to create very good pages implies, that ...

It's only an example to show a new and easy method to hide table lines without content. If needed, other templates like tab-line-H2 or without header column tab-line-2 can be created. Now let us discuss and/or modify the other info templates.
+
: Like the post I made above, this discussion fits better under the talk page for CTGP Revolution. Regardless, I might as well tell you about those stars. Bronze means you have not beaten the easy staff ghost (this one I am not too sure of myself considering I have never gotten this kind of star when I used to set times on a bunch of tracks, but it would probably make the most sense), silver means you beat the easy staff ghost, but not the expert staff ghost, and gold means you beat the expert staff ghost. --KantoEpic (talk) 05:31, 10 June 2020 (UTC)

Track Directory
On mwkwii.com I have read, that there were bad votes made by trolls. After a check I can confirm, that there were many worst votes from users, that are not logged in. Because of that, I have removed all votes of such anonym users. For the future I plan to edit the voting script to allow only votes made by logged-in users. At the moment it's easier to clean the db frequently.

Double naming of pages
: I have analysed the votes for some pages. And I have seen, that different tracks have either many "1" votes or many "10" votes made by not logged-in users. Both are bad. So I decided to remove anonymous votes.

: KHacker35000vr wrote as comment: "You can say a lot about me removing that voting box, but now the anonymous users are gone the trollers have an even bigger percentage."

Hi, I just made a Gold Mario texture with an additional .brsar-file so Gold Mario actually sounds like him. There are already two versions and I now don't know what to name the page because the correct name for this texture hack is already taken. Can anybody help me with that? MarkAlbertsma03 (talk) 06:55, 19 July 2020 (UTC)
: Because of this I use this as example: I have analysed the votes for Molten Mountainway.

:* 37 persons voted, 26 were anonymous votes.

:* Only counting the "10" votes: 17 total, 14 anonymous.

:* Logged-in users voted: 5*1, 3*7, 3*10 (5.1 average)

:* Anonymous users voted: 3*1, 1*2, 2*5, 5*8, 1*9, 14*10 (7.8 average)

:* Both groups: 8*1, 1*2, 2*5, 3*7, 5*8, 1*9, 17*10 (7.2 average)

: Obviously the rating was pushed by anonymous votes.

: After a fast review of the vote database I have seen, that anonymous users manipulate the ratings in both directions. And so I have made a second statistic, an analysis of all votes:
+
: Seems like Cederic did not rename the page for iSlime's mod. Regardless, your mod would be named "Gold Mario (MarkAlbertsma03)" without the quotation marks. --KantoEpic (talk) 13:32, 19 July 2020 (UTC)
:* Logged-in users voted 4271 total — 30% "1" and 36% "10" (66% extreme values)

:* Anonymous users voted 21930 total — 17% "1" and 45% "10" (61% extreme values)

: The high percent for the extreme votes shows 2 things:

:* Overall the voting system is only used in an abused way. Normally, extreme values are rarely.

:* Anonymous voting is generally used to push the rating upwards.

: And this analysis confirm my feeling, that the voting system is only a battle field and will not give a fair rating for interested people.

:However, personally I dislike this kinds of voting. And so I never vote and never watch the ratings — it's total irrelevant for me. So the goal was not to increase or decrease any rating. My goal is that the ratings reflect the reality in a better way.

Hello! My name is Jackie, and I've come here seeking a favor. I've recently started my own Wiki (No worries - Not related to this place at all), and I'd like to know if the admin would /possibly/ be willing to share the list of banned Spam bots? I've followed this Wiki quite a bit the past few years (Attempted custom content myself - Ala Daisy Cruiser), and I recall around it's creation, and through the course of it's existence, Spam bots have come and gone, eventually disappearing all together. If I recall correctly, 'Wiimm' at one point found a list of IPs to watch for, and mass banned them as a form of prevention. I'd like to do the same, as seeing that you have a list ready, would you be willing to share that with me? Thank-you!--Jackie (talk) 20:09, 15 January 2014 (UTC)

Of course you should also disable not logged in users to edit your wiki. Requiring people to confirm their email addresses also is a great way to add more security. Two month ago we had a Spam problem again because the learned the answers of the questions (after around one year) so Wiimm changed the questions.

Perhaps with the Custom Track details listed on each track's page, why not have a section that lists what music file it uses, and have a page that shows tracks that use a certain music file to make music editing a bit easier for people? --Supershadow64ds (talk) 03:56, 5 June 2014 (UTC)

Hi Tockdom users! I think we should make a page that lists all of the game modes (e.g. 9.0x Speed Pack, 999,999cc, Hypersonic Kart Wii, etc.) and one that lists all of the vehicles (custom and retro Mario Kart Vehicles). Could a moderator please agree and make them? P.S. this is my 4th question in a row. :This information would normally fall under the Download section, however most CT creators will decide to bundle their brstm's with their CT's in a zip archive, which is an awful idea really. Having this section be mandatory across all pages is probably unnecessary. --Torran (talk) 04:01, 5 June 2014 (UTC)

Broken download links

I have recently been reuploading broken download links as some of you may have noticed via the recent changes page. At the same time, I also compiled a big list of pages where the download link was down and I didn't happen to have a file on hand. I just wanted to put that list here for all to see. For the benefit of the wiiki, I will put it in a spoiler.

No download link

Huili (talk) 23:02, 28 August 2015 (UTC)

I already made a hidden category named Category:Misc-Info/No Download, though it doesn't show texture hacks currently; I need to edit that.
Also, don't forget to remove broken links and add Category:Broken Downloads to the page.

Broken Wiiki Themes

User:ALPHAMARIOX tried to change his theme to "Nostalgia", but now he gets HTTP Error 500 upon trying to load any page. I did a small test and it appears the "Classic" theme is also not working.
He needs to be reverted to a working theme. Perhaps MonoBook?
Also, can these broken themes either be removed from the list or be fixed? It's too easy to permanently lock yourself out of the Wiiki by changing your account to a broken theme.
Thanks, --Guilmon35249vr (talk) 21:32, 8 August 2016 (UTC)

Send him this link. It will override the broken theme with the MonoBook theme so he can reset the theme setting.

As you can see on the "recent changes" page, I'm already going through the track list, updating all tracks (in alphabetical order) with new download links if the old one is down, but that will take a long while. If you want, you can check Wiimms track archive (http://wiimm.de/r/d/mkw-track-archive) if your tracks are there, and if so, add that link to the track page(s). -- Leseratte (talk) 06:49, 19 October 2017 (UTC)

Mixed up talk page

The talk page on Talk:DS Shroom Ridge contains a small section relevant to the article that used to be on that page, DS Shroom Ridge (SuperMario64DS). However, the first entry on the subsection is dually relevant - it specifies my version, but in relation to its time on the article titled DS Shroom Ridge. So I have two questions - first, should this small section of the talk page be moved to Talk: DS Shroom Ridge (SuperMario64DS), and second, if so, should the first part relevant to the article title stay behind? --SuperMario64DS (talk) 06:46, 7 August 2018 (UTC)

Porting TF2 Files into Mario Kart Wii?

I apologize if this isn't the right place to ask this :/ I am new to making custom tracks, and I was thinking of turning the track used in the Duck Collectors minigame in TF2 into a map. However, IDK how I would port it from the source files inside my TF2 folder into the game itself. Is it even possible? Also, how do I go about porting the textures? --Unsigned comment by 404 (talk).

A File that I am need to replace

Hello,

I need someone to delete this file: File:Boo.png

I wanted to swap the same file but with a different name but I can't. I tried what it said me to do.

It would be very much appreciated. --MiniGeek2000 (talk) 17:10, 26 June 2019 (UTC)

What exactly are you trying to do? If you want to upload a new version of that file, click "Upload a new version of this file". If you want to rename it, click "Move". What's the problem? -- Leseratte (talk) 17:12, 26 June 2019 (UTC)

I was trying to upload a file with a different name which looks exactly the same as the Boo.png with a different name. The website detected it to be identical to said file and I was trying to find a way to delete it.--MiniGeek2000 (talk) 17:23, 26 June 2019 (UTC)

Well then why do you need to reupload it if it is identical? Why not use the existing name, or move the file to its new name? -- Leseratte (talk) 17:25, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
I wanted to make it a name for a cup but someone else has used a file with the name I was going to intentionally use so I named it Boo.png then I tried naming it with the name of my custom track pack with the name MiniGeek2000's Custom Track Pack Boo Cup.png because I wanted to have the name Boo Cup displayed on my custom track distribution without having to deal with any file conflicts. I was trying to rename the file but I don't know how to do it.--MiniGeek2000 (talk) 17:50, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
I moved the file name to its new name like you told me. This move to a new name feature I didn't see at first but thanks for helping me.--MiniGeek2000 (talk) 18:01, 26 June 2019 (UTC)

2 Questions about Texture Hack Distribution

Hello, I wanted to release my own Texture Hack Distribution but I have two concerns about it.

1. Can I release the texture pack with no announcement whatsoever?

2. Do I need to ask permission from the creator of the texture hack of that track?

Thanks in advance! and sorry If I posted this in the wrong place to ask. --SnorgUp (talk) 09:46, 23 February 2020 (UTC)

For the first one, I don't know, I suggest doing the thing anyways.
For the second one, that depends of the creator of the texture hack. Most are fine with just crediting but few may want permission. --FancyDoesCustomTracks (talk) 14:13, 23 February 2020 (UTC)
The Wiki rules explicitly allow you to include content from the Wiki in your distribution (as long as that's released on the Wiki, too), so there is no need to ask creators for permission as long as the tracks you are using are available on this wiki. -- Leseratte (talk) 16:02, 23 February 2020 (UTC)

Help with Brawlbox Character Texture Import

I am making a custom character model by importing a DAE into Brawlbox. The geometry is fine, but I can't get the textures to work. There are multiple materials in the DAE, and in Brawlbox they are all there, but only one of the materials will show. Is there anyone who is willing to help me out on this? --ecumber (talk) 03:04, 16 May 2020 (UTC)

I remember dealing with a similar issue with the lack of materials, but this was a while ago and I do not remember how I fixed it.
Also, I think the talk page for BrawlBox would be more appropriate than here. Just to let you know. --KantoEpic (talk) 07:29, 16 May 2020 (UTC)

What are the conditions to get these? MarkAlbertsma03 (talk) 05:23, 10 June 2020 (UTC)

Like the post I made above, this discussion fits better under the talk page for CTGP Revolution.

The page has been made. I can find it, but why is it not on the main one? MarkAlbertsma03 (talk) 06:10, 25 July 2020 (UTC)

Double naming of pages

Hi, I just made a Gold Mario texture with an additional .brsar-file so Gold Mario actually sounds like him. There are already two versions and I now don't know what to name the page because the correct name for this texture hack is already taken. Can anybody help me with that? MarkAlbertsma03 (talk) 06:55, 19 July 2020 (UTC)

Seems like Cederic did not rename the page for iSlime's mod. Regardless, your mod would be named "Gold Mario (MarkAlbertsma03)" without the quotation marks. --KantoEpic (talk) 13:32, 19 July 2020 (UTC)

Contradictory rules

Looking at the template, which is above every month's news entry. It's the green attention box. Anyway, the 1st and 3rd rule of Posting rules are contradictory rules, as it is not clear which newsitem goes on top. Do newer entries go on top or older ones? Here's a link --> Template:News Month 08 --Unsigned comment by MarkAlbertsma03 (talk).

The first rule refers to the actual dates; the third rule refers to the news entries. It does not have the best wording, but it is not contradictory. --KantoEpic (talk) 06:05, 14 August 2020 (UTC)

Adding a new page

Should I add a new page about the Wuphax exploit for the wii u? Thanks. Visu33 (talk) 17:44, 28 August 2020 (UTC)

Personally, I do not see the point in making a page for it. --KantoEpic (talk) 04:40, 29 August 2020 (UTC)

Signature Change

Hey there, CM333 here. Was wondering, if I wished to change my signature, would my account have to be a certain age? -CM333 (talk) 16:09, 5 October 2020 (UTC)

You can go to your preferences and add a signature under the section 'Signature'. MarkAlbertsma03 (talk) 18:44, 5 October 2020 (UTC)
Thanks, wanted to know. --Bye from, CM333 (talk) 14:58, 7 October 2020 (UTC)

Just a question

Is there a timeline of the history of the Mario Kart Wii modding community? I want to see that. Elemental (talk) 15:41, 23 November 2020 (UTC)

I mean, you can check all the pages from News 2011 to News 2020. The earlier pages aren't as complete but I don't think there's anything more than that. Trainiax/SwampyGator (talk) 15:43, 23 November 2020 (UTC)

How do I add files

Hello again! I can't add files to my page for my mod 'Orange Yoshi (Yoshi Texture). It says something along the lines of 'only Jpeg and (other stuff like that) required, your file is not valid'. Could you help? Ginger (talk)

Well, what type of files are you trying to upload in the first place? --KantoEpic (talk) 05:09, 22 January 2021 (UTC)

Talk Pages, the Creation

Hey, CM333 here. Just a quick check to be sure, do you create a talk page by adding a subject, or do you add a title, similarly to main pages but with less content? --Bye, from CM333 (talk) 11:46, 24 January 2021 (UTC)

It does not matter from what you are asking, but it is easier to use the "Add topic" option. --KantoEpic (talk) 15:24, 24 January 2021 (UTC)
Thank you, just needed to check. --Bye, from CM333 (talk) 21:09, 24 January 2021 (UTC)

MBRSTM Files

Hi Tockdom users! Can the MBRSTM music files have musics of different lengths and/or different loop points in different channels? Enjoy Funky Kong dancing and peace! (talk) 10:04, 14 February 2021 (UTC)

The multi channels can have different music, but the loop points have to stay the same for all of the channels. This is a good tutorial on how to make one. If you want different music for each channel, follow this tutorial. It does explain it via the menu music, but it'll work the same for your type of music. 🏁_____🌲______🚗_____🌳 Krummers (talk) 11:04, 14 February 2021 (UTC)
Math Warning There is a way. If you make the .wav files loop until the lowest common multiple of the end loop point of each file minus their start loop points plus the latest start loop point, it will work. You can make the .brstm file loop from the latest start loop point to the lowest common multiple of the end loop point of each file minus their start loop points plus the latest start loop point. E.g. one file's start loop is at 5 seconds and its end is at 30 seconds, the other's start is at 15 seconds and its end is at 60 seconds, the start loop point would be the latest start loop point (15 seconds) and the end loop point would be the lowest common multiple of the end loop point plus the latest start loop point (LCM of (30-5) and (60-15)+15»LCM of (25) and (45)+15»225+15»240). End of Math Warning Enjoy Funky Kong dancing and peace! 13:51, 8 December 2021 (UTC)

Signing In

Hi Tockdom users! When I first joined, I signed in once and checked the box that asked if I wanted to stay signed in. I never had to sign in again until yesterday. It has asked me to sign in 5 times since then (4/5 times it was as I was as I was saving an edit) and I’m not on private/incognito mode. Is there a way to fix this? Please reply ASAP. It’s annoying. Enjoy Funky Kong dancing and peace! (talk) 08:30, 18 February 2021 (UTC)

Once in a while, you just have to log in again. Mark the box with a check if you don't want to do it every time you visit this wiki. 🏁_____🌲______🚗_____🌳 Krummers (talk) 12:12, 19 February 2021 (UTC)
That’s way at I did every time. For some reason, it stopped. Enjoy Funky Kong dancing and peace! (talk) 20:13, 19 February 2021 (UTC)
Did something change with your browser? Double check the box is still checked. That's not an issue that we can fix. Trainiax/SwampyGator (talk) 20:18, 19 February 2021 (UTC)
Not that I know of, but I somehow fixed itself, so don’t worry about it. Enjoy Funky Kong dancing and peace! (talk) 20:34, 19 February 2021 (UTC)

Custom Game Modes and Custom Vehicles

Hi Tockdom users! I think we should make a page that lists all of the game modes (e.g. 9.0x Speed Pack, 999,999cc, Hypersonic Kart Wii, etc.) and one that lists all of the vehicles (custom and retro Mario Kart Vehicles). Could a moderator please agree and make them? P.S. this is my 4th question in a row. Enjoy Funky Kong dancing and peace! (talk) 11:22, 19 February 2021 (UTC)

The distributions you are talking about are already listed in Category:Distribution or in Category:Game Mode. Retro vehicles can be found on List of Retro Characters/Vehicles and custom vehicles can be found on List of Custom Characters/Vehicles. 🏁_____🌲______🚗_____🌳 Krummers (talk) 12:12, 19 February 2021 (UTC)

HELP

I dont know where to go to get help, so Ive gone here. How in the world do I add images to a page I made? Ive tried dragging and dropping, Ive looked on help and I still dont get it. Ginger (talk)

You can upload a file here. It should be descriptive - for example, "Orange Yoshi (Ginger) v1.0 In-Game Preview.png" - and not something like "unknown.jpg." --KantoEpic (talk) 22:38, 5 April 2021 (UTC)

Font Size

Is there any way to change the font’s size other than <small> and </small>? Can you choose the size like in Microsoft Word? Enjoy Funky Kong dancing and peace! (Talk) 00:59, 22 May 2021 (UTC)

I got it. You can use <small> and <big> multiple times. Enjoy Funky Kong dancing and peace! 03:17, 6 October 2021 (UTC)

Distribution Updates

a) Can you update a distribution without releasing another version?

b) If no, can you remove links and/or purposely delete the file from your Google Drive?

c) Can someone please reply to my previous message?

a. No.
b. Yes.
c. Use <span style="font-family:font-here">text</span>

Pages

If double braces (XXX) show templates, what do triple braces make? Enjoy Funky Kong dancing and peace! (Talk) 11:46, 29 May 2021 (UTC)

Nothing. --KantoEpic (talk) 14:25, 8 December 2021 (UTC)
Never mind. I looked at this question wrong. --KantoEpic (talk) 19:22, 8 December 2021 (UTC)
Triple braces are used in templates to insert parameters. Example {}: If param #1 is not empty, use it. If empty, then insert word Hello. -- Wiimm (talk) 18:32, 8 December 2021 (UTC)

Table of Contents Oddity

why do some pages like Wario's Collapsing Castle have numbers next to all the sections? --lol zilly 02:17, 17 August 2021 (UTC)

It’s something you can turn on and off in preferences, but it also happens on some random pages like this. I think it’s a glitch when it happens randomly. Enjoy Funky Kong dancing and peace! (Talk) 03:15, 17 August 2021 (UTC)
I do not know what causes it, but I personally don't believe it's at random. Fortunately, pages can have this issue fixed by adding "__NOTOC__". I'd encourage adding this on any page that has this issue. Bruh de la Boi (talk) 03:21, 17 August 2021 (UTC)
Actually, do not do this. I didn't realize that it removes the actual table of contents. My mistake. :P Bruh de la Boi (talk) 14:11, 17 August 2021 (UTC)
I doubt there is a direct cause. For the few times I have encountered this, it happened on random pages. I remember dealing with a similar problem before, except some text on the website changed to a different language despite English remaining enabled in my preferences. --KantoEpic (talk) 04:02, 17 August 2021 (UTC)
Since this happened on a discussion page for me, I feel there is no real cause for this oddity. --KantoEpic (talk) 05:13, 17 August 2021 (UTC)
I have encountered this bug with numbers displaying on the left next to the sections in the past recently too, considering the fact I seen it happen on the Inside the Dreambow and CTGP Revolution/Track Wishlist pages before. I believe it is some kind of bug that is on the wiiki and it happens occasionally at random sometimes.--PeachKia52250vr (talk) 07:20, 17 August 2021 (UTC)
It's not happening to me. No idea why it does for you though. Krummers(#1936) (talk) 07:53, 17 August 2021 (UTC)
