EpicCrossover's Extreme Remake Competition

EpicCrossover's Extreme Remake Competition (also known as EXTR) is a competition series hosted on the Mario Kart Wii Competition Hub Discord server where participants have two weeks to create a remake to a selected custom track by EpicCrossover alongside a twist, which is chosen by him.

Choosing the Track to Be Remade

A public vote between four of EpicCrossover's tracks is being held publicly in the Mario Kart Wii Competition Hub Discord server, where the track with the highest number of votes will be the objective for the competition. The winner(s) of the previous competition get to choose one track each to be featured in the poll. The remaining tracks are chosen randomly.

The Aftermath

Once the track to be remade has been chosen, participants have two weeks to submit their custom track (as an SZS file) directly to EpicCrossover. The track files will then be displayed for voting, hiding the information about the author's identity. People can then play the tracks themselves, and give each track a rating between one and 10. The track author with the highest received average rating wins the competition.

EXTR Rules

1. Submissions must be a Mario Kart Wii custom track.
2. Submissions should be remakes of the track to receive the highest number of votes in the track selection poll. Significant changes to the layout can be made.
3. Submissions should follow the special twist that is being announced alongside the track selection poll. Tracks that do not follow the twist can receive a deduction on its final score by 0.5.
4. Submissions are not allowed to feature models made prior to the competition.
5. Submissions are allowed to feature both objects from Nintendo and custom objects as long as permission is granted by their authors.
6. Submissions need to work on Wii/Wii U without crashing.
7. Authors may submit multiple custom tracks.
8. Authors may work within a group of up to three people.

First Come First Serve

First Come First Serve (also known as FCFS) is a competition series hosted on the Mario Kart Wii Competition Hub Discord server where participants have one week to create a custom track for a given theme and requirement. First Come First Serve was originally introduced by Atmosphere and the first five editions of the competition series were hosted on a dedicated Discord server with the same name.

Choosing the Theme and Requirement

Throughout the whole duration of the competition a bank of 25 themes is publicly available on the Mario Kart Wii Competition Hub Discord server. A Google Form is set up so that each author can select three themes of their choice, those being the theme they want to be assigned with the most and two optional choices in case their most desired theme has already been given to another author. Each theme is given a unique requirement, that is kept secret until the theme has been given to one of the authors.

The Aftermath

Once an author has been assigned a theme and requirement, they have until the end of the competition's deadline to submit their custom track (as a SZS file) directly to Atmosphere. The track files will then be displayed for voting, hiding the information about the author's identity. People can then play the tracks themselves, and give each track a rating between one and 10. The track author with the highest received average rating wins the competition. Notably the first five editions of First Come First Serve did not have a voting format, for which reason they do not have any official results.

FCFS Rules

1. Submissions must be a Mario Kart Wii custom track.
2. Authors should try to follow their selected theme.
3. Submissions must follow the requirement that has been assigned to the authors theme. Failure to do so results in disqualification.
4. Submissions are not allowed to feature models made prior to the competition.
5. Submissions are allowed to feature both objects from Nintendo and custom objects as long as permission is granted by their authors.
6. Submissions need to work on Wii/Wii U without crashing.
7. Authors are only allowed to submit one track each.
8. Authors may not work together unless it is stated otherwise.

MKWahPhil's Room For Improvement

MKWahPhil's Room For Improvement (also known as MRFI) is a competition series hosted on the Mario Kart Wii Competition Hub Discord server split into two rounds, with the second round aiming at the participants expanding on their work from round one.

Round 1 Format

Every edition of MKWahPhil's Room for improvement is split into two rounds. In round one, participants have one week to submit a custom track without any given theme or requirement to MKWahPhil. The track files will then be displayed for voting, hiding the information about the author's identity. People can then play the tracks themselves, and give each track a rating between one and 10. A score barrier anywhere between four and six is chosen by a random number generator. Submissions receiving an average rating higher than given score barrier advance to round two.

Round 2 Format

After all qualifiers for round two are announced, authors that had qualified for round two have four days to expand on their work from round one. Each track that qualified for round two is given a randomly selected requirement. People can then once again play the tracks themselves, and give each track a rating between one and 10. The track author with the highest received average rating in round two wins the competition.

MRFI Rules

1. Submissions must be a Mario Kart Wii custom track.
2. Round two submissions should follow their assigned requirement. Tracks that do not follow their requirement can receive a deduction on its final score by 0.5.
3. Submissions are not allowed to feature models made prior to the competition.
4. Submissions are allowed to feature both objects from Nintendo and custom objects as long as permission is granted by their authors.
5. Submissions need to work on Wii/Wii U without crashing.
6. Authors may submit multiple custom tracks.
7. Authors may work within a group of up to three people.
