Overview
An inspired version of Rainbow Road is featured as a racing track in the Game Jolt indie game Sanicball, created by Thomas Nielsen (also known as BK-TN). It was made into a Mario Kart Wii custom track by SpartaYoshi, making it his fourth custom track overall.
This custom track is not a direct port of the original version from the indie game, as the models that compose the track are stored separately. Moreover, game-mechanical objects like start lines and checkpoint rings were also stored in-game as ASCII-encoded models, with no possibility of conversion into a compatible model to work with. Therefore, the position of objects like the big star or the start line banner don't stay true to their original location. In addition, the start line model has been remade from scratch.
The custom track also has cannons to adapt the X-axis 180º turn present in the original, to make it easier for the player to continue driving on a straight line and rotating automatically.
Credits
- BK-TN for the design of the track and creation of the Sanicball game.
- TL for helping with the cannon turn adaptation.
