Overview

Not Thwomp Ruins is a custom track created by SpyKid for April Fools' Day in 2016.

Original overview

This custom track is an original port of the Mario Kart 8 course Thwomp Ruins. It was created by SpyKid.

The polygon count was largely reduced, so the model will not cause slow down on the Wii. Vertex colors have been ported from the BFRES file. The course itself was kept identical to the original, with the only change that the road before the glider ramp has been extended, so the jump could be a normal trick boost ramp. The anti-gravity sections have been kept, slightly sloped, so they are drivable, similar to Magnetic City. The model of the custom Thwomps was also ported from Mario Kart 8. The rock wheel, that replaces the rock object from GCN DK Mountain was remade. So far, no major glitches are known, and it is completely lag-free on Multiplayer mode. The project actually started in early 2015, but the progress was mostly kept a secret.
