3DS Rock Rock Mountain (kHacker35000vr)
|Date of latest version:||2012-08-17|
|Editors used:||3ds Max, BrawlBox, SketchUp|
This remake is kHacker35000vr's seventh custom track, and his third using SketchUp. This is the first custom track to be based on Mario Kart 7. The final model is very similar to the original version, but with minor changes and less pipes and ramps that were mainly used for gliding, which are not present. The road scale is small compared to the original and very small compared to other Mario Kart Wii tracks. The ramps after the big bridge are replaced by to serve as obstacles.
The development of started in March 2012. As the model had to be very advanced, it had been in development for two months in SketchUp and another three months in 3ds Max. The textures are from original Nintendo tracks and edited by WorldsBoss. Baoulettes converted the model to a 3ds Max file and helped make the model work in 3ds Max and BrawlBox. The KMP had been in development since July, along the 3ds Max business, and was the last thing to be finished before release. The last weeks before release were mainly working in BrawlBox, where Torran helped a lot. There were some problems with tree shadows and later when the shadows were fixed by Torran, the boost pads had a new mapping; this mapping is still in the final version. The track was finally released mid-August, after a race against the clock, only hours before the author was leaving for two weeks. The bugs discovered while testing had minor fixes and were left alone. Those bugs were fixed a month later, but due to a nasty freeze and the lack of motivation, an update was never released.
