Overview
Wingcapman's Custom Menus is an ongoing custom menu project developed by Wingcapman. This project contains modifications of all the menus that are in Mario Kart Wii, including obscure ones, just to give everything a new fresh look. The plan is to make everything more playful while nothing look too busy at the same time. The Lap Texture Fix mod is included in the correct race-related menu files as well.
This custom menu project also provides a modified StaticR.rel file which only contain menu-related element changes, such as the models that are used on the character selection screen, the vehicle selection screen and its transitions between different menus. A few modpacks and distributions do not allow a modified version from this file, so some sacrifices will be made. And to play safe, use this for offline purposes only!
The menus are currently made for modpacks and distributions that make use of LE-CODE, but there will be different versions for all sorts of modpacks and distributions. Since this page contains all sorts of menu files, please check out the Version History section to see what's updated.

Todo-list (what to expect in the future)
|
Strap Screen
- Let the users know what controller they can use.
- Find a way to give it a whole new animation (if possible).
|
Save Banner and Save Icon
- Make an animation for the Save Icon.
|
Title Screen
- Add a background behind the license selection screen's trophy progression textures.
- Fix the padding issue that's made for the Mii name on the main menu (it's too far away from the Mii icon).
- Give the License option button a new animation.
|
Single Player menu
- Fix all the text that's cut off in the process.
- Animate most buttons that they have a grow and shrink effect when a button is highlighted.
- Fix the Rules button and Drift Help button, as well as changing the grow animation as it's growing a bit too big.
- Hide 2-player mode player models and 4-player mode player models so that the course and arena selection screen won't have any player models included (to fix a mess that the Multiplayer menu causes).
|
Multiplayer menu
- Update everything so that it looks like the Single Player menu.
|
Online menu
- Start all over as the latest modification is a mess.
|
Options menu
- Update the Back-button whenever you're on the Yes/No page.
- While it contains custom text messages for the Records page, this one's only optional and isn't required to be included in (let the user know that they can remove this to get the vanilla text back).
|
Mario Kart Channel menu
- Haven't started working on it, need to think about what can be changed without making it look like a mess.
- Different borders.
- Bring the new Back-button and bottom description text message to this menu.
|
Tournament/Competition menu
- Haven't started working on it. Not sure what to do with it yet.
- Different borders.
- Bring the new Back-button and bottom description text message to this menu.
|
Race UI
- I haven't decided what kind of custom race overlay I really want. Currently working on the vanilla overlay and make things looking sharp.
- "Score" counter normally uses the regular backslash between the current score and total score. This is changed inside the race's language file, combined with the custom font. However, there are some alignment issues with the number's height, I need to find out how to push those specific numbers up (which needs to be done inside the .bmg text string; need to find a way to shift up a few units).
- Need to make a decision on what to do with the regular 12-player results screen and the 24 players mod's results screen. The BRCTR files used for the 24 players mod can be linked to a new BRLYT, alongside with new animation files if needed (the results screen is currently a tweaked version for the 24 players mod to make sure everything fits in place, although the 24 players results screen is untested).
|
Ending Ceremony results screen
- No changes have been made aside from a new Mii Outfit C icon.
- Make the player borders thicker and spread them a bit further away vertically. This way, more text can be placed underneath the player name as the vanilla layout stretches and pulls all sorts of text, which needs to be changed.
- Make the Congratulations text smaller as well as changing the text color.
|
Achievement/Unlocked screen
- Undecided what to do with it.
|
All language files
- Simply keep this up-to-date for whenever something needs to be changed, such as Mission Mode's menus and description text messages.
|
Font
- Make sure that the custom font is compatible with CTGP-R v1.03.
|
StaticR.rel
- Find a way to fix Mission Mode's "fifth button" video.
- Find the addresses for all character and vehicle positions for both placements and page transitions.
- If the Backmodel selection is also located here, find a way to add a fifth model and then create a new model in Backmodel.szs.
