Overview

Mount Everest is a custom track created by Wacker. It was designed as a concept and demonstration of using Blender GIS to create a track that is a port of real-life terrain. The textures are from Google Maps and the terrain and elevation are from NASA's Shuttle Radar Topography Mission version 3.

The track is also a concept for a "route-less" race, as the racer does not have to take any particular route to get to the finish (the top of the mountain, or the darkest spot on the minimap). The author used slope of terrain to determine terrain type (steeper is heavier terrain, thus taking longer to get across) which the racer can choose to either cross directly or circumvent.

Credits
