Complete Tutorial Rewrite

We're doing this from scratch. None of that tl;dr nonsense.

Introduction

Category Tutorial

The proposed category system, for use in an updated tutorial. Additional footnotes pertaining to detailed information on certain terms may be necessary.

Track Battle Character Vehicle Font
Custom Created by you or your team and only by you or your team.
Retro Any content from games within the Mario Kart series.[1]
Import Any content from other games not native to the Mario Kart series.
Texture Any texture or other modifications of existing content that are wifi safe.[2]
Edit Any other modifications of existing content that are not wifi safe.[2]
  1. All Mario Kart tracks, even tracks from Mario Kart 7 and on, are classified under this category, contrary to its name. This also includes the Arcade games.
  2. 2.0 2.1 Wifi Safe - Modified content that behaves the same as the original content.
    Any modifications that change collision/solidity or significantly alter the performance of the game are not wifi safe.

Character/Vehicle Page Tutorial

This article will teach you how to name a new Character/Vehicle page correctly.

Page Naming Scheme

  • Character: character hack and has all vehicles for its weight class
  • Character on Vehicle: character hack and has only 1 vehicle
  • Vehicle: vehicle hack


Examples:

  • Batman: replaces all vehicles
  • Batman on Batmobile: replaces 1 vehicle
  • Batmobile: vehicle hack

Custom Track Page Tutorial

This article will teach you how to name a new Custom Track page correctly.

Page Naming Scheme

  • Custom Track: original Custom Track created and designed by you
  • ABB Retro Track: Nintendo track (ABB: Platform Abbreviation)
  • ABB Retro Track (Your Name): your version of a Nintendo track (use this if other versions exist already)
  • GAME Import Track: an imported Track from a game that is outside the Mario Kart series (GAME: Game Abbreviation)

Page Creation Tutorial

This article will teach you how to create any page correctly.

Here is a list of template codes you will need for Step 3:

  • Custom Track: {{subst:Custom-Track}}
  • Texture Track: {{subst:Texture-Hack}}
  • Character/Vehicle: {{subst:Custom-Character}}
  • Distribution: {{subst:Distribution}}
  • User Link (replace XXX with your username): {{subst:user-XXX-Link}}
  1. Type the name of your page in the Search Bar near the top of any page and click Search.
  2. If the page does not already exist, click Create the page "Page Name Here" on this wiki!
  3. Type the correct template code into the text box.
  4. Click Show Preview to see if you did it correctly. The page should have a template now.
  5. If you did it correctly, click Save.
  6. On your new page, click Edit.
  7. Edit the page to fill out needed information.
  8. Before you are finished, decide what category your page belongs in. See the Category Tutorial for more information.
  9. Click Save.
