Overview
3DS Rainbow Road, also known more formally as 3DS Rainbow Road: Solar Edition, is an upcoming track to be created by BigOto2. It was re-made entirely using 3DS Max's modelling tools, and was constructed by simple estimations of distance from the MK7 version. It has one element that has never been seen before in a custom track, which is moving terrain for the spinning tunnel. Getting it to work was quite difficult and required perfect placement of the model because moving terrain is hardcoded and pretty much only works as pointing in one direction (unlike water streams). Because of this, the more complicated moving conveyor belts before the tunnel were replaced with water streams. The track also features not-to-scale versions of the planets Venus, Earth, Mars, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune, most of which replace the simple asteroids used in the original version. The Earth in the background slowly rises during the race, and the skybox was taken from MKW Rainbow Road but was modified to slowly rotate.
The track contains three references to other games and three references to people on the Internet. Between Saturn and the road that follows is a floating island made up of Minecraft blocks, on which BigOto2, Kurtjmac, and Lorgon111 stand together (all of who are Minecraft-playing YouTubers). The windows on the rockets at the end of the Moon driving section have Kerbal people sitting inside, which is a reference to the game Kerbal Space Program. Near the same location is a frame that goes above the road with the word "SPAAAAAAAAAAACE" on it, which subtly references the ending of Portal 2 and the Internet memes that followed.
When the track is run with the lap count modifier code, races will only last two laps which equates to approximately four and a half minutes. Otherwise it is a full 3-lap track which is too long for online play.
