Mario Kart 8 is a racing game developed by Nintendo EAD and published by Nintendo for the Wii U console. It is the eighth installment in the Mario Kart series and the second Mario Kart title to use the Nintendo Network. The game was released worldwide throughout May 2014. An enhanced port was released for the Nintendo Switch in April 2017 under the name Mario Kart 8 Deluxe which featured a higher resolution, new characters, 200cc in time trials and a revamped battle mode.
