After implementation or rejection, they will be moved to here:

SHA1s

Hello. First of all, well done on your work to recover and restore the tracks after the recent take down, and I like the idea of a central repository such as yours. I was wondering if, as an extension, it might be possible to display and/or allowing searching for tracks by SHA1 using the same system as CTGP. That way we could interlink the archive with the leaderboards at www.chadsoft.co.uk/time-trials/other-leaderboards.html. Our systems simply use the SHA1 of the decompressed U8 archive as the track ID. We also include the author intended slot as part of our ID, which may also be something your archive could log. Chadderz (talk) 08:20, 22 October 2017 (UTC)

Sounds like a good idea but I don't know if this is possible. Wiimm stores the tracks in WBZ format, and when converting that back to SZS/U8, the result may not be exactly the same file as the original, even without compression and at least if the original SZS was not created with Wiimms tools. There might be other paddings, the files in the U8 may be in the wrong order, ... -- Leseratte (talk) 09:02, 22 October 2017 (UTC)
Agreed, but presumably the WBZ conversion does put it into a stable order; it won't change further. It doesn't necessarily matter that it is not equivalent to the original U8 going forward, as if everyone is downloading the tracks from the archive everyone will get the same version. Possibly a workaround for the existing tracks would be if the original U8's SHA1 (before WBZ) is also included if you still have it. Chadderz (talk) 09:07, 22 October 2017 (UTC)
WBZ makes it stable, yes. But If you used the original SZS to put the track into CTGP and we use the WBZ, the SHA1 in CTGP and on Wiimms page may not be the same - unless you redownload all tracks from Wiimms archive and replace everything that differs. -- Leseratte (talk) 09:11, 22 October 2017 (UTC)
In deed, the database uses a sha1 checksum of the decompressed file (wszst sha1 FILE...). So packing as U8, WU8, WBZ or SZS is irrelevant.
A general distribution support is planned. But let us delay this for some weeks until I finished the first steps of the new archive.

Many thanks Wiimm, I've now added links from our time trial pages to the archive (e.g. Abyssal Ruins). I note that if the track doesn't exist, the resultant page is blank, which may perhaps confuse people, so might I suggest adding a "track not found" message in that case (e.g. Alpine Mountain).
Chadderz (talk) 15:19, 3 November 2017 (UTC)
Fixed! (There are more small issues)
However, it's now time to give me all missed tracks. This is the way how this community works: Open and free data!
-- Wiimm (talk) 16:19, 3 November 2017 (UTC)
Thanks. Indeed, CTGP v1.03's security is only intended to stop cheating, I never meant it to hide things. Bean used to make many small edits to tracks before adding them so that explains why many are not in your database. I've suggested he uploads them once you add a submission form. Chadderz (talk) 11:21, 4 November 2017 (UTC)
A submission form is planned, but not in the next weeks. Easiest way is ti send me a ZIP/RAR/7Z file with all tracks. The filenames or a additional text file must identify the track by name. Then I'll put all tracks into my income folder and start the analysis script. It normalizes the track and separates new from known tracks.

Wrong URL

The Misc-Info Template with the "wbz-id" parameter displays "ct.wiimmfi.de" instead of "ct.wiimm.de". Unfortunately this page is protected so I can't fix this myself. Leseratte (talk) 16:43, 4 November 2017 (UTC)

Fixed, but not the URL -- Wiimm (talk) 00:48, 5 November 2017 (UTC)

Bot

Will there also be a bot adding the wbz-id to every track page? -- Leseratte (talk) 17:43, 10 November 2017 (UTC)

My plan is to do anything in this direction. From the beginning I store referrer (from wiiki to ct.wiimm) to find out relations, but I don't know if I'll need/use this information. -- Wiimm (talk)

Contribution

Hello, is it possible to contribute to the Custom Archive? Because I have some tracks that are not on the archive (with some without working download link today, and others not on the wiki either) and I wanted to give them to the Archive to preserve them... Thanks! -- Nanoman6666 (talk) 10:38, 15 November 2017 (UTC)

If a track has no Wiki page, it would be best to create it. You can just put all the tracks you have (with track name and author in the file name) into one archive and give Wiimm the link, and he'll add the tracks to his archive. -- Leseratte (talk) 15:26, 15 November 2017 (UTC)
And can we create pages for custom tracks that were here, but that are now deleted? -- Nanoman6666 (talk) 17:49, 15 November 2017 (UTC)
You can send my all SZS that are not already in the archive. A false positive doen't matter, because my income-script will detect duplicates. And if a deleted page must be revealed, ask one od the moderators or me.
-- Wiimm (talk) 20:34, 15 November 2017 (UTC)
OK, I've sent you the archive with the tracks by Youtube private message. -- Nanoman6666 (talk) 22:50, 15 November 2017 (UTC)
I have accounts at gbatemp.net, wii-homebrew.com and mkboards.com. Best is to use a PM at one of theses forums. You can also send a mail to [email protected], but I look rarely in it (to much spam and unban requests).

OK, private message sent at wii-homebrew.com. Have a nice day, and many thanks for the answers! -- Nanoman6666 (talk) 10:00, 16 November 2017 (UTC)

Missing Tracks on the Wiiki

There's four tracks that don't have Wiiki pages, but three of them violate the Wiiki rules and one of them doesn't even work. What will you do with them? --KantoEpic (talk) 02:20, 2 May 2018 (UTC)

I don't think that is the only track in the Archive / Wiiki that does not work for some reason, so I think it should still get a page (although I haven't checked the tracks to see exactly how broken it is). For tracks that violate the Wiiki rules, I guess that means those won't get a Wiiki page, but even if they violate Wiiki rules, they'll still be kept available in the archive. -- Leseratte (talk) 03:12, 2 May 2018 (UTC)
The track in question (SNES Mario Circuit 1) had its page deleted by the request of the author, and I'm not sure if he'd want the page recreated. --KantoEpic (talk) 04:13, 2 May 2018 (UTC)
Usually each track should have a page. Because of the encyclopedia status of this Wiki, the mind will of the creator is not really relevant. Exception are rule violations. I'll exclude the other 3 tracks from the list soon.
btw, Thanks for your work without request! I honored you at the nowiki-page.
-- Wiimm (talk) 16:32, 2 May 2018 (UTC)
No problem! --KantoEpic (talk) 19:41, 2 May 2018 (UTC)

Can't Download WBZ Files

I've been unable to download WBZ files for 2 days now, as I get "HTTP ERROR 500". Any idea why this is happening? --KantoEpic (talk) 19:58, 30 May 2018 (UTC)

Typo and syntax error ⇒ fixed now! -- Thanks for pointing it -- Wiimm (talk) 20:26, 30 May 2018 (UTC)

Version Number Change

Hey Wiimm, could I request a change to Pyro Circuit's version numbers on the WBZ Archive? RC2 should be v1.3a and RC2.1 should be v1.3b. Thanks in advance! The ID for the track family is 2112. --Joeey (talk) 21:08, 25 August 2018 (UTC)

No problem, done in 30s. I do it ever time when I detect changed version numbers. So I have my interface for it. -- Wiimm (talk) 21:17, 25 August 2018 (UTC)

A few mixups

It surprises me just how often the SZS links are dead; thanks for this invaluable archive. --Cotni (talk|contribs) 19:19, 27 August 2018 (UTC)

Thanks & Fixed. If Pipeline Skyway versions are entirely different, the v3 should have an own page. -- Wiimm (talk) 19:58, 27 August 2018 (UTC)

A small mistake

Hey Wiimm, on your site there's a small error. You listed BillyNoodles's update of RMX Choco Island 1 as an update of Noia's version when it was an update of my version. Toxic Prime (talk) 23:24, 11 May 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for info. I fixed it. -- Wiimm (talk) 05:15, 12 May 2020 (UTC)

Issue with SNES BC3

Hi, I think family 1634 should be split into two, one for this and one for this. Cealgair (talk) 19:07, 23 December 2020 (UTC)

done -- Wiimm (talk) 22:26, 23 December 2020 (UTC)

Bug with keywords

Hi, I noticed that if a keyword like @5480:5482 is present in the query then the results include both tracks and arenas regardless of the option selected at the top of the page (where it says "Select a custom type:"). Cealgair (talk) 12:19, 4 January 2021 (UTC)

Ok I noticed that those keywords pretty much behave like @recent, so maybe that's their intended behaviour. My bad for not noticing earlier. Maybe this could be added in the explanation of management keywords in the Keyword Statistics page. -- Cealgair (talk|contribs) 14:37, 7 January 2021 (UTC)

Metadata Feature Request

Hi, I'm looking to download and parse metadata for a given ID, and the current way to do this in Python would be to download the webpage and parse the HTML table through BeautifulSoup. Given the variable table structure, and the way some of the entries have the "/" separator, I was wondering how difficult it would be to implement requesting a JSON with metadata. Vabold (talk) 00:12, 4 April 2022 (UTC)

It's more a question of my time. Real live and reducing stress at all is more important for me now. -- Wiimm (talk) 22:34, 4 April 2022 (UTC)
That's completely understandable. Thanks for the response! Vabold (talk) 03:03, 5 April 2022 (UTC)

Incorrect Author Labelling

In your archive for Anti-gravity Zone, you have listed ZPL as its author and not me as it should be. Could you please fix this minor error? -- Jasperr Talk 09:39, 18 February 2023 (NZST)
