Respawn Issue
I saw the issue when playing the track in Mario Kart Wii Deluxe, and the respawns are very odd. For the Mario Kart Wii physics, the player could go through over the cactus wall by hitting to any items, or something of accidents. So that if the player fall off before the lap counts, then the player respawns over the lap count checkpoint, and cannot complete the lap in the track.
