Donkey Kong: World Conquest is koura's first custom track. It was created for the 75th edition of the Custom Track Jam competition series, where it placed 13th.
It all started a while ago when I stumbled upon a track titled “Bloodlust Moon Circuit” by the great Elemental Domino. The track made a sound that I had never in my 6 years of CTs heard and I was in awe. (This means that Bloodlust Moon Circuit is on the list of tracks that have caused me genuine shock along with Atlas and Wexos' version of 3DS Bowser Castle for the changing cannon and Strobenz's τ-Cryovolcano for the changing, well, everything. There have definitely been more tracks that qualify for this list but I do not remember them unfortunately.)
No sound, star crash impact SFX (requires starGate for SFX) (unused)
I asked Elemental if this was the origin of the mysterious sfx and he said yes. I am surprised that no one else has ever used this flag in a ct before.
This flag has another very interesting quality: Flag 0x1D is the kcl flag for rotating road. If this flag is present in the track alongside the casinoroulette object; it will rotate the player. This only applies within a certain region: a 24k mkw unit diameter around the origin. Outside of this region, flag 0x1D just acts like normal road.
I immediately had the idea to create a desert bus-esque track where you get thrown off the side at the very end. That was my original plan, but it quickly evolved into something much greater. So where does fantasy play in? This track is not very realistic. There are unfortunately no monkey-shaped celestial bodies inhabiting the solar system. The earth is also not a flat square.
The lore of the track that I developed during the creation process was that you are exploring the mind of donkey Kong as he fantasizes about his future world domination; a reality full of monkeys, piss, and yes, factory island. In his mind he is so powerful that he is literally larger than earth itself. He keeps a watchful eye over every citizen in monkey town. He gets you to trust him with the propaganda spilling out of his colossal chomper. Best of all, Mario is no longer the main character.
This track also plays into my own fantasies. I had this idea In my head for probably a month before I finally figured out how to make cts (thank you gabi for your blender kcl tools and the numerous other people who have given me help along the way). It was a fantasy of mine to not only create this track, but to create custom tracks in general. This community is so incredibly talented and helpful and I did not expect that my dumbass would manage to resurrect two ct creators from their inactive graves because I did not know that blender local view was a thing.

I genuinely love playing every single new custom track that comes out, even if it’s worse than mushroom peaks. I am glad that I finally get the chance to give back to the community that I have been taking from for 6+ years. I can’t wait to see what this community creates in the future. Happy Jamming!
