Thank you for joining the Custom Mario Kart Wiiki!

Before you get started, Click here to read the Rules page.

Keep the following in mind as you contribute to the site:

  • Make good edits. Always use the SHOW PREVIEW button to check your changes before you use the SAVE button. If you make a mistake, wait 15 minutes before saving the same page a third or fourth time in a row.
  • Saving lots of edits without PREVIEWING will get the moderators on your case, and can get you banned from the Wiiki.
  • If you plan to update a lot of pages in a short period of time, please clear it with a moderator first.
  • Write articles in third person (using words like he, she and they) instead of first person (I, me and we.) User pages and talk pages are the exceptions to this rule.
  • Use correct grammar, spelling and capitalization.
  • If someone posts on your talk page, please post a reply.
  • Sign all of your posts on talk pages with four tildes (~~~~). This will turn into your name and the time you wrote the comment.
  • Don't delete anything from your talk page.
  • Use the Templates on the Main Page when making new articles for content such as Custom Tracks, Texture Hacks, Characters and other releases.
  • We encourage all content makers to create a User Link to put on their release pages and to add it to the Author List.

Hey

Can I ask you a question on Discord? GuidedByVoices (talk) 22:35, 22 December 2021 (UTC)

Sure, provided it isn't to request I work on a specific piece of custom content as I do not take suggestions. Squadaloo (talk) 02:03, 23 December 2021 (UTC)
Oof. Nevermind then. GuidedByVoices (talk) 21:13, 23 December 2021 (UTC)

Emerald Coast v1.0.1.mkd

Regarding this revision of the article, the version would have to stay because it is being used in Mario Kart Wii Deluxe. I did not realize I put "v1.0.1" instead of "v1.0.1.mkd" for the Custom Track Distributions section until you made that edit. --KantoEpic (talk) 14:51, 26 May 2022 (UTC)

Ok but the original track edit ignored wiki rules to begin with. Squadaloo (talk) 14:55, 26 May 2022 (UTC)
I am pretty sure FJRoyet forgot to ask you about it. There are only two solutions for this scenario:
1. The Mario Kart Wii Deluxe download links would need to be reuploaded with the original Emerald Coast track file. I personally do not see this working because the distribution's newest version released a month ago, and that there are three download links using different services. It would take too long for one file replacement, in my eyes.
2. Readd the file, but mark it as "unofficial" so that it does not appear in the Misc-Info template. --KantoEpic (talk) 15:05, 26 May 2022 (UTC)
Why can't we just leave everything be in its current form since Deluxe effectively is using 1.0.1?
Regardless of forgetting to ask or not, it doesn't change that I said ask me and I wasn't asked. I don't want to give the impression that "yeah sure do whatever" to anybody who would want to make any other changes. Squadaloo (talk) 15:10, 26 May 2022 (UTC)
The track file was still modified. It is not exactly the same as v1.0.1. --KantoEpic (talk) 15:13, 26 May 2022 (UTC)
Can't we just have FJRoyet message me to ask permission? That's really all I want.
I guess my concern going forward is that we have contradicting rules on the wiki because it's completely unenforceable to check if an update was ok with the creator if the person doing the unofficial update uses it in a pack they either release simultaneously with the update or before the track creator sees it's been made. Even though I'm watching pages the wiki doesn't sent me an email every update for some reason which is why I only happened to see it now. Squadaloo (talk) 15:30, 26 May 2022 (UTC)
I told FJRoyet about this situation. Before his distribution's update released a month ago, he sent me various track updates he either got permission to edit or I would ask the track authors if I could publish them. However, this track was not in that batch, so I was unaware he restored the original item box model until the distribution was updated. He said he would revert the item box model back to what it was for the next version of his distribution, which could take a little while to be released. --KantoEpic (talk) 15:57, 26 May 2022 (UTC)
Ok if you're on the staff for that track pack and you'd like permission to edit the model I'm granting it. Honestly, this was less about this specific change because I don't care what the item boxes look like and more of a concern that if I let this one change go without saying something, it would appear to others I'm ok with them making changes without asking in the future. Squadaloo (talk) 16:08, 26 May 2022 (UTC)
I'm readding the version to the page Squadaloo (talk) 16:09, 26 May 2022 (UTC)
Thank you, Squadaloo. I am a contributor, but not part of the Deluxe Team. FJRoyet only made this item box model change because the Fake Item Boxes in his distribution resemble real item boxes, making them more useful in races. --KantoEpic (talk) 16:12, 26 May 2022 (UTC)

Could yo please import two 3D Models?

Hey Squadaloo! I was thinking: as you work on Mario kart 8 deluxe, you maybe have the wave 3 dlc. Would it be possible for you to import the 3D models of GBA Riverside Park and Sw Yoshi's Island please?

Thanks in advance!πŸ˜‰ Iggy Iggy Ze Koopa (talk) 11:19, 25 March 2023 (UTC)

Or else if you can't, would there be a possibility for you to update one of my tracks to mk8? I maybe ask to much, sorryπŸ˜“πŸ˜“ Iggy Ze Koopa (talk) 11:21, 25 March 2023 (UTC)
