Wiimm

I'm Wiimm and my business and also my hobby is software engineering. I'm a Mario Kart Fan too. To play with others I have build several Custom Track Distributions. The public ones are listed here: Wiimms Mario Kart Fun

All distributions comes with an ISO Patcher. The ISO patcher is based on some of my Tools:

My personnel CT history

2009-09
In September 2009 I started my work with Wiimms ISO Tools. The reason was simple: I wanted to have a working WBFS Manager for Linux. At that time I haven't any thoughts on custom tracks.
2010-01
I noticed the custom track scene of Mario Kart and I started to collect the tracks. But playing only with my family and the computer drivers was very boring. So I decided together with Jillian to create a Custom Track Distribution.
2010-02-14
Jillians and my first Custom Track Distribution was ready. The BMG files have been edited with the SZS Modifier and the image was created with WiiScrubber. It was very hard work, because each change must be done interactive. So I decided to create non interactive tools.
2010-02
I started 2 projects:
2011-03-31
The first version of Wiimms SZS Tools was able to extract and create SZS files.
2011-04-04
For easier script support, I defined a text version of BMG files. With this release the new tool wbmgt can convert BMG from and to the text format. Also direct patching of BMG files was possible.
2010-04-16
Wiimms ISO Tools can extract Wii images to single files.
2010-04-30
Wiimms ISO Tools can compose Wii images from scratch by reading single files. Until now, my tools are the only working one with this composing feature.
2010-05 – 2010-10
I developed a Patching System, so that other users can patch their original MKW image to get my distribution. The patcher supports Linux, Mac and Windows systems. At the same time I developed a Patch Creator, that read files from different project directories and create the needed files for the patching system And I worked on Wiimms SZS Tools and Wiimms ISO Tools to fiy bugs and to add new features.
2010-10-21
I released my second Custom Track Distribution. Because the patcher was not ready, I created the images by myself and share them with some friends.
2010-12-01
I released my third Custom Track Distribution. Patching Creator and Patching System were ready. The distribution was a test for the complete softare.
2010-12-13
My first public Custom Track Distribution.

Asking for my help or support

Best is to ask in the forums of mariokartwii.com. In general I will ignore private messages with support queries.

I spent much time in my tools and to discover and research MKWii techniques. So I will refuse most job offers to create or modify tracks; and there are more requests than enough. Some times I'll will accept it, and there are some reasons for it (high priority first):

  • The job help me to improve my tools or to find bugs.
  • The job help me to learn more about techniques.
  • The job offer was made by a friend.
  • I like a track very much.
  • I plan to include a track in my distribution and the track needs improvements.

So it's only my decisions based on personal reasons to help or not to help. And there are many other people in the scene, who can help. So please don't be offended if I refuse your query.

Track Archives

I collect custom tracks since beginning of 2010. You can find more than 1200 of these tracks in my custom track archive. The archive contains different variants of same tracks. Tracks, which are not usable (black screen, freeze, not drivable, ...), are excluded:

If you are only searching tracks created or modified by me, then look here:

AIParams are removed from all tracks. All tracks are stored as WBZ files to avoid copyright conflicts. Use Wiimms SZS Tools to decode them.

All files are archived as WBZ files. It is useless to ask me for SZS files!
