Thank you for joining the Custom Mario Kart Wiiki!

Before you get started, Click here to read the Rules page.

Keep the following in mind as you contribute to the site:

  • Make good edits. Always use the SHOW PREVIEW button to check your changes before you use the SAVE button. If you make a mistake, wait 15 minutes before saving the same page a third or fourth time in a row.
  • Saving lots of edits without PREVIEWING will get the moderators on your case, and can get you banned from the Wiiki.
  • Write articles in third person (using words like he, she and they) instead of first person (I, me and we.) User pages and talk pages are the exceptions to this rule.
  • Use correct grammar, spelling and capitalization.
  • If someone posts on your talk page, please post a reply.
  • Sign all of your posts on talk pages with four tildes (~~~~). This will turn into your name and the time you wrote the comment.
  • Don't delete anything from your talk page.
  • Use the Templates on the Main Page when making new articles for content such as Custom Tracks, Texture Hacks, Characters and other releases.
  • We encourage all content makers to create a User Link to put on their release pages and to add it to the Author List.

You have edited the page HAL DAT (File Format) 5 times in 15 minutes. Please read the rules and remember to save a page a maximum of 2 times in 15 minutes and don't forget to use the SHOW PREVIEW button before saving any changes. Thanks for reading! —Atlas (talk) 12:58, 2 February 2017 (UTC)

sorry @Atlas, I do understand this, and did try to make as few edits as possible.
The fact I was editing the various sections of the category instead of the category itself is to blame, off a phone no less.
I was using the preview as much as possible, but was unfortunately rushed due to a discussion on discord, and didn't want to run the risk of losing my work.
Drafting would be an awesome feature here.
And another pro for it is the fact I'm autistic, and usually don't think of a better way to state something until the edit is posted.
I will do my best not to let another occurrence happen again, I understand how annoying the notifications are to everyone.

It is fine. I recommend you copying the whole text and pasting it anywhere, and then you finish editing it then. When you're done, then you can copy it back to the Wiiki (that's what I do with big pages that usually lag when editing, like CTGP Translation page). If you can't or you are in trouble trying to edit everything, then I understand it and we can make an exception. —Atlas (talk) 11:51, 3 February 2017 (UTC)
@Atlas, I also think this edit rule should not be enforced so "violently". This rule was, afaik, added when there were like 10 edits of single people within a few minutes, and I can understand that that is annoying.
However, the wiki has a feature to edit single sections - which, first, helps you to edit (not that much text to read through in the wiki markup, easier to find what you want to edit), second, helps people to see what you did without having to write long summarys (because it states the section), third, it reduces the possibility of editing conflicts (two people can edit two different sections at the same time - but only if they don't click the "whole page edit" button.
Also, I think it's bad style when you make a mistake in the wiki and may have already edited twice, that you have to wait 15 minutes just to correct that. That only leads to people forgetting that and leaving wrong information.
Afaik, the current moderator patrol system requires a mod to individually check each edit, right?
Maybe the wiki mods could think about ditching the current patrol system and instead use something like the "Flagged revisions" addon, which makes it much easier to check edits, especially when more people get the "check" right.

Well, I just do what the rules say. If they said to not edit more than 10 times in 15 minutes, then I wouldn't have warned him. But it says clearly 2 times in 15 minutes, so I guess if you don't ever warn a user who didn't read this rule he will continue editing more times that the rules say. And I didn't invent this rule. —Atlas (talk) 15:10, 3 February 2017 (UTC)
I'll be honest, I too agree things should be updated...
But for now at least, let's just settle with the crap we have to deal with...
Starting a flame-war over it and getting tempers hot only leads to getting banned with nothing being done, as well as wasted page-space.
Report your idea or thoughts to the admins and wait for them to hopefully do something about it.
