Note: A yellow background in the first and latest release columns means that this distribution is not compatible with the current Wiimmfi Login.

In September 2013 all distributions were updated. The tracks are still unmodified (old and buggy like before), but the build system is new and now completely based on WU8 files for all distributions. In the game there are only minimal changes of messages and for the online chat.

How To (English)

This page describes, how to create an ISO image with the distributed patch.

Introduction

The script files (also called batch files) create-image.bat and create-image.sh convert an original Mario Kart Wii image (PAL or NTSC version) into a new disc called »Wiimms Mario Kart Fun 2011-03«. The *.bat script is for Windows users and the *.sh script for Unix users (Linux, Mac, ...).

After starting the scripts, it will ask for a conversation language, a file format and the kind of the savegame.

The conversion works only on hard drives that support hardlinks. NTFS and all modern Unix file systems support hardlinks; FAT does not.

Prerequisites

A backup of Mario Kart Wii is needed for the conversion. The PAL and the NTSC version is supported. The backup must be available as file in one of the formats: ISO, CISO, WBFS, WDF, WIA.
The new image is fake signed. For playing it the Wii must have installed a cIOS or an IOS with an enabled Trucha Bug.

Disc space usage

While unpacking and creating the new image, the process needs about 6 GB of disc space. If you create multiple new disc images, then an extra 1.5 GB are needed for every additional ISO image.

Conversion

Download (see above) and unpack the ZIP archive.
Copy a PAL or NTSC version of Mario Kart Wii (or both) into the the root directory of the previous created directory structure. The converting scripts accept ISO, WBFS, WDF, CISO and WIA files (see wit file formats for details). Use your usual WBFS Manager to extract the ISO from your WBFS drive.
Linux and Mac users should execute chmod a+x *.sh to make the shell scripts executable.
Windows users should start the batch file named create-image.bat. All other users can start the file named bash create-image.sh. These scripts will create a new Mario Kart image. A conversion takes about 5 up to 40 minutes.
After starting the script, it should ask you for some conversion details:
- The first question is about the conversation language. Enter 'en' for English or 'de' for German.
- The next question you will be asked is for the online chat language:
  - de: The German chat messages are used for all non supported languages.
  - en: The English chat messages are used for all non supported languages.
  - de+: All messages of all languages will be replaced by German messages.
  - en+: All messages of all languages will be replaced by English messages.
- You must enter your wanted output file format. Supported are ISO, CISO, WDF, WBFS and WIA.
  - The newer versions of the patcher allow also to create a Riivolution template. Enter »riiv« and continue at the next section.
- You must enter the kind of the savegame.
The scripts save the answers as default value for a next run.
The new images will be created in the sub directory named new-image/ with a size of about 1.4 GB. Now you have now the choice to ...
- ... copy the new disc into your game folder.
- ... add the new image with your favorite WBFS Manager to your WBFS drive.
- ... burn the new image with your favorite burning tool.
There are some additional info files in the sub directory info/.
If all is done you can remove the whole directory structure.

Creating a Riivolution template

The newer versions of the patcher can create a Riivolution template. Therefore you must enter the keyword »riiv« when the patcher asks for the file format. An original image disc will be needed to create and patch the files. The result is very similar to an image.

The Riivolution template is stored into the directory riiv-sd-card/. Copy all files in that directory to your SD Card. If Riivolution is already installed, then ignore the directory riiv-sd-card/apps/ for copying.

Diagnostic Scripts

This tool set contains 2 diagnostic scripts for Windows and 2 for Unix users.

The 2 scripts view-images.bat and view-images.sh print a table with all the current directory detected ISO images. This is a fast test to check your copied disc images.

The 2 scripts verify-images.bat and verify-images.sh verify all detected ISO images in the current directory. The content of each disc will be decrypted to verify the stored SHA1 checksums. This process takes much time.
