Mission Mode was an unfinished mode found in the game's code. However, due to the fact that it was replaced with competitions some time in development, any time you finish a mission it will upload the time to the Wiimmfi servers. All evidence points to rocket start missions causing this issue which in Variety Pack's case is Level 1-1. Please do NOT play mission mode on a license that you use to do Wiimmfi Competitions otherwise you will be banned. Watch out for items in your My Stuff folder (if it's enabled) as Variety Pack does feature modified menus, text and Common.szs, if you find anything in your My Stuff folder that may disrupt gameplay and other things, remove the files or disable My Stuff entirely.
The Variety Pack is a custom track distribution that features 112 custom tracks that range from difficult tracks to meme tracks (only features 32 tracks in the demo and Variety Pack Lite), to even some that are in CTGP hence the name variety. It's also got it's very own mode called Frantic mode. The pack is owned by Tombwarrior and is developed by Bladestorm227, Skipper93653, MrFib, Diamond and JαmεςH. AlphaFlame is also the Variety Pack Discord server manager. The Great Role Reversal is present in all modes except Mission Mode.
From v1.0 — v1.2 Frantic Mode is a new mode that uses the ItemSlotTable.slt in every track's szs file from Electric Shredder meaning you can get any item in any place but power items have a higher chance of appearing.
From v1.21 onwards Frantic Mode got reworked so that it uses ItemSlot.bin in the Common.szs. However, the chances of getting any item is completely equal. But Thunder Clouds were removed entirely and you can no longer get the POW Block in 1st making it slightly more balanced.
From v2.0 frantic has been renamed to chaotic.
Blue Shell Showdown
Since v1.3, a new mode called Blue Shell Showdown has been added which heavily increases the probability of blue shells being received from the item roulette while every other item has been revoked of it's probability or have been made for the lower positions only. As we don't want 1st place to receive a blue shell, the ItemSlot.bin has been modified to give first place dodge items such as mushrooms or stars which have obviously been balanced depending on their power. Like in normal gameplay, blue shells will only appear after 30 seconds into the race. There is, however, a side effect in this mode, on certain custom tracks, objects turn invisible but do keep their collision and the code used to increase the blue shell limit probably does this to reduce lag but this is only speculation (this was fixed in v1.31).
If you would like to suggest a new track for v2.0, head to track wishlist and add the track you would like to see, in v2.0, to the list.
If you want an existing track to be removed for v2.0 head to removed tracks list and add the track to be removed.
