Riivolution Generator

I have remade the page, Riivolution. I think that there is very little documentation on this "Riivolution Generation", and that you should make a small description page, with possibly a download.
The very kind person, ★Shadow★ (talk) 00:47, 25 January 2014 (UTC)
The generator is only a part of my MKW-Fun-Patcher and not a standalone software. The algorithm is very easy:
  1. Extract the original image
  2. Set the modified-time to a date in the past (1.1.2008)
  3. Run the patching process
  4. Copy the modified files into the SD-Card folder.
  5. Create a XML based on the list of modified files.
Wiimm (talk) 13:13, 25 January 2014 (UTC)
Ah, so it's part of your distribution.

No time for CT until weekend

Since some days and until the next weekend I haven't any time for the Wiki and for other CT related things. I'll visit the wiki rarely. The only CT thing I'll do is playing my weekly tournaments.

Permission and Help

Hi there, Wiimm. I would like permission to use your track, N64 Wario Stadium, in a distribution I'm currently making. I also want you to help me with some slot patching, as I'm having trouble with that. Thanks- Miles5x5 (talk) 8:28, 15 February 2014 (EST)

  1. There is a generally permission to use the tracks of this wiki in any distribution.
  2. At the moment it is not clear, what you mean with slot patching. So ask with more details, but not me, ask the forums or at any related discussion page of this wiki and more people can help you.

Rename

Could you rename me to Suigetsu? --The very kind person, ★Shadow★ (talk) 13:59, 22 February 2014 (UTC)

Done.
Please change the links to the old user page by yourself. * Start with: http://wiki.tockdom.com/wiki/Special:WhatLinksHere/User:Shadow (except talk pages).

CTGPR 1.02 reverse engineering help

I'm trying to reverse-engineer CTGPR 1.02 to locate the Ocarina/Gecko detector (blackscreens on Wii but not using Dolphin's cheat generator) or modify the TEXT2 to add the lap count functionality. I located the cheat codes necessary for the lap count modifier in 1.03, but I cannot apply them on Wii without the black screen. Ideally, it could be integrated with the existing TEXT2 patch.

On Dolphin, JITIL (necessary for CTGP menu system to work) causes random crashes with the lap count cheat (extracted from CTT), on both normal, CTT, and CTGP ISOs.

I don't know any ASM, only C++ and Python.

--PretendingToBePro (talk) 20:56, 26 February 2014 (UTC)

The source code for CTGP-R 1.02 will be released very soon, reverse engineering is not necessary.
Chadderz (talk) 07:02, 27 February 2014 (UTC)
Interesting... Not that I will care very much once WFC goes down forever. The only significant difference for me between Wiimms and CTGPR is that the latter has much more online popularity. I'm sure that will change if (that's a big if) (1) Wiimm sets up a server, and (2) he disallows CTGPR from it. And anyway, when did the 1.02 converter appear, and is it different from Sasalot's?
I will never exclude any distribution! That's not my way. My way is open knowledge and source.
Wiimm (talk) 23:39, 27 February 2014 (UTC)
Yes, that's what I expected. Also, why wasn't the converter on the main page of CTGPR v1.02?
Looks like I'll have to wait on my converter until the source is released. Then it will be far easier. But sorting out 216 tracks is not very easy, even with the CTGP patch fully recreated. Script? --PretendingToBePro (talk) 02:19, 28 February 2014 (UTC)

Slow Motion Bug

I'm Not trying to ignore you, I've just been busy as of lately. I have all of the tracks to fix on my list, plus essentially all of my old ones are being remade. I'm trying to just focus on one at a time, starting with the older ones. --ChaosShadow23 (talk) 12:27, 3 March 2014 (UTC)

Good to read this -- Wiimm (talk) 23:07, 3 March 2014 (UTC)

Slots

As mentioned in the talk page of Mario Kart 64 Wii, I would like to thank you, but I am still not getting the patching process. Can you make a text document of how this works (like a tutorial), then send it to me via talk page? --Michael (talk) 04:21, 4 March 2014 (UTC)

Short answer for the moment:
There is a difference between the slot and the track. later is referenced by the original slot.
  • S=T means: move the original track of slot T to the new slot S. This is an exchange operation.
  • S=T,U,V is a shortcut for S=T, (S+1)=U, (S+2)=V'.
Multiple commas are only for easer reading.
Best is to play with for example wstrt tracks -T 21=41,51 (watch out the slot numbers).

Nintendo Wifi captured data

Hey Wiimm, I wanted to ask you if you needed some data from Dolphin of joining and getting the data for the new FC at start when you go online and some Races that I did. I have them at .cap format. Does that help you? --TheMetaPirate (talk) 17:23, 4 March 2014 (UTC)

Thanx, but for the moment I have a lot of dumps, because Collect them since December 2012. Its total about 16 GiB bzip compressed. I also have many videos to remember, what happened.

Quick question

Hello, just wanted to ask you which category do I need (now) to put if:

  • I find a page with a broken download link ? (that I'll remove)
  • I find a page with no download ?

thank you if you reply me back. Avenir (talk) 19:03, 14 March 2014 (UTC)

  1. Remove the broken DL; then you have 2.
  2. The question is: Are there any other good infos about the track/font/...?
    • An article without any infos is a deletion candidate (mark it with: [[category:Delete]]).
    • Have it only some, but to few information, mark it a stub ([[category:Stub]]).
    • Otherwise all needed infos are available, just leave the article, because out wiki reflects all about custom MKWii.
Wiimm (talk) 08:31, 15 March 2014 (UTC)
And, is a page with no download link available a stub ?? because when you tell me "Remove the broken DL" How will it be possible to find back that page, shall a category for this type of page be made ? (If it's not already done) well... that's not a quick question anymore sorry.Avenir (talk) 19:13, 15 March 2014 (UTC)
In my eyes, a page without DL is not automatically a stub. But here are differences between mods and other people. A stub is a page with a lack of several things.

Custom Track Archive Questions?

Since I'm (again, yawwwnnn...) working on the CTGPR 1.03 ISO converter, and the distribution is encrypted, I'm planning to manually download each and every track manually from your archives and reassemble them into a distribution. In fact, I've already downloaded them all and just need to sort and assemble them. Since there are like 216 tracks in CTGPR 1.03, manually sorting them all is not an option for me at least.

Now I have some questions. What does [ctt12] mean? Cam Tom Troy modified?

(Partially relevant, not sure if you care) Also, do you have any suggestions for automatically searching for the correct track in each case? Search for the root string, then do a ranking algorithm based on when it was uploaded, and how well it matches? The CTGPR 1.03 page formats track names a bit differently from your archive, for example not including authors, which means I have to do an approximate head match.

On the other hand, I could crowd-source it, but I don't think I can find people.

--PretendingToBePro (talk) 00:24, 19 March 2014 (UTC)

  1. "ctt12" means: Source is "Cam Tom Troy v1.2" (never released)
  2. Try http://download.wiimm.de/mkw-selected-tracks/ for my private selection.
Wiimm (talk) 08:56, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
Unrelated but important: What is the maximum number of tracks supported by your CTCODE modifier? --PretendingToBePro (talk) 19:10, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
I think its (256 - 2 - 10) = 244 when removing the original tracks. There are 10 battle tracks and two reserved IDs (0xff and 0x43) for Wifi actions. -- Leseratte (talk) 19:19, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
There are 8 reserved slots, 32 orig and 10 arenas: 256-8-32-10=206 ⇒ rountded to *4 = 204 ct + 32 orig tracks
Wiimm (talk) 20:09, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
Then how does CTGPR 1.03 support 32+216 tracks? Delete arenas? Remove original tracks altogether? (no) Remove reserved tracks? (It looks like there are 4 reserved and 1 special [n64 RR]) Code an entirely new 16-bit track ID system? (doesn't look like it)
Also what about Chadderz/MrBean and the promised source code of 1.02?
--PretendingToBePro (talk) 22:35, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
Don't know, what ctgpr 1.03 does. And no, I haven't seen the sources yet. -- Wiimm (talk) 07:26, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
Also will I experience problems playing online with someone whose speed modifier is very slightly different (as in I round the 1.5 differently from Bean/Chad)? Can I tell what speed modifier is being used through a WiFi dump?
--PretendingToBePro (talk) 00:37, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
Because the limit on 2 bytes, the speed modifier use only a few bits for the mantissa. Command "wszst float 1.0 0x3f81" will help with floating point calculations.
About WIFI: I have never seen this value.
Wiimm (talk) 07:26, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
And in "N64 Royal Raceway v2.1 (Baoulettes,Wiimm) [62].wbz", what does the [62] mean? --PretendingToBePro (talk) 23:59, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
The section "Name Scheme" at the archive sites. "62" Runs only at slot 6.2 -- Wiimm (talk) 07:49, 22 March 2014 (UTC)

Permission to create a new file-format page

moved to: Talk:HAL DAT (File Format)

May I create a BRSAR File Format Page? -- Suigetsu, the transformation (talk) 20:45, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
Yes, but/and don't forget to edit:
and perhaps more.
A note for others: In general don't ask to create a MKWii related page, just do it. We are the community!
Wiimm (talk) 22:01, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
speaking of other file formats...
mind if I create a section for "non-MKW File Formats" and rename the existing to "MKW File Formats"??
I think this would help out the community by loads.
(the more knowledge we have, the better)
Tcll (talk) 00:56, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
I would rather say add the "non-MKWii File Formats" category but keeping the "File Formats" category for MKWii File Formats.
Tock (talk) 01:28, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
alright sure, glad I asked :)
Tcll (talk) 01:32, 25 April 2014 (UTC)

Unrelated File Formats Page Created

so I've created the page here: List of Unrelated File Formats
but I'm not sure about where to link it up in the wiki :/

Tcll (talk) 01:58, 25 April 2014 (UTC)

I think it is better to have one page as overview about all file formats, as long the page is not to large. So I have merged List of Unrelated File Formats into List of File Formats.
And don't forget to add [[category:File Format]] to file format pages.
Wiimm (talk) 08:51, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
Wiimm: as long the page is not to large
then I don't think it was a good call to merge the pages...
(that's one reason decided to make it separate, because I expect it to get larger than the related formats page)
EDIT: btw, thanks for the heads up :)
Tcll (talk) 14:25, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
I think this page is very small. And think as a foreign user: He visit the site, search with the browser a file format and found it without visiting a second site.
Wiimm (talk) 21:11, 26 April 2014 (UTC)

N64 Royal Raceway

I just finished a version of N64 Royal Raceway (Baoulettes & LuigiM), removing the DKM rocks for people who don't want better gameplay and/or just want it simple. This is NOT, I repeat, NOT to replace v2.1. I call it...v2.1.easy. I also cleaned the KCL as well as there were some face-down roads. What do you think? --Michael (talk) 16:58, 26 April 2014 (UTC)

Do it! -- Wiimm (talk) 21:11, 26 April 2014 (UTC)

KMP Cleaning

Um...this may be a completely idiotic question, but how do you clean the KMP? Is it the same procedure with KCL? --Michael (talk) 21:09, 1 May 2014 (UTC)

Try this: wkmpt encode -o --kmp fix-all [filename].kmp --Suigetsu, the transformation (talk) 21:50, 1 May 2014 (UTC)
Tried, and it failed. The bugs are still there... --Michael (talk) 22:15, 1 May 2014 (UTC)
It won't fix all the bugs that a KMP has. --Suigetsu, the transformation (talk) 22:44, 1 May 2014 (UTC)
I call "wkmpt check" or "wszst check", look at the warnings and remove or fix it manually with an text editor.
And if I know, that objects are outside the visible world, I remove them too.

When you mean by "old profiles"...is it profiles that existed before the Nintendo worldwide server shutdown? --Michael (talk) 20:27, 7 June 2014 (UTC)

I mean: Profiles created at the old Gamespy/Nintendo servers.
