Hey Wiimm, I'm new to creating custom tracks, and would like someone to guide me in making them. Knowing you've made so many custom tracks and helped so many people, can you help me to make some custom tracks? So far I've stuck to texture hacking, as my first texture hack, Alien Run, will be released later this week, but I want to make custom tracks as well. So can you help me create some please?

Thanks!

I have been looking at this page for help figuring out what music slot I want my track on. However, I want to use certain songs that are not on this list, and they include Galaxy Colosseum and the Ending Demo (for the track SADX Twinkle Circuit of course). I was wondering if you knew what those values are. I was assuming they would be GC and ED but I'm not sure. - Thank you in advance for reading this. == Track Facepoints ==

I'm trying to reverse-engineer CTGPR 1.02 to locate the Ocarina/Gecko detector (blackscreens on Wii but not using Dolphin's cheat generator) or modify the TEXT2 to add the lap count functionality. I located the cheat codes necessary for the lap count modifier in 1.03, but I cannot apply them on Wii without the black screen. Ideally, it could be integrated with the existing TEXT2 patch.
+
Hi Wiimm, How do I know all facepoints of a track? --Super-Mario68 (talk) 23:47, 27 March 2015 (UTC)

On Dolphin, JITIL (necessary for CTGP menu system to work) causes random crashes with the lap count cheat (extracted from CTT), on both normal, CTT, and CTGP ISOs.

I don't know any ASM, only C++ and Python.

:: Interesting... Not that I will care very much once WFC goes down forever. The only significant difference for me between Wiimms and CTGPR is that the latter has much more online popularity. I'm sure that will change if (that's a big if) (1) Wiimm sets up a server, and (2) he disallows CTGPR from it. And anyway, when did the 1.02 converter appear, and is it different from Sasalot's?

noticed now -- Wiimm (talk) 19:26, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
: There is a difference between the slot and the track. later is referenced by the original slot.

:* S=T means: move the original track of slot T to the new slot S. This is an exchange operation.

:* S=T,U,V is a shortcut for S=T, (S+1)=U, (S+2)=V.

: Multiple commas are only for easer reading.

: Best is to play with for example wstrt tracks -T 21=41,51 (watch out the slot numbers).

Custom Track Archive Questions?
+
Common.css
Since I'm (again, yawwwnnn...) working on the CTGPR 1.03 ISO converter, and the distribution is encrypted, I'm planning to manually download each and every track manually from your archives and reassemble them into a distribution. In fact, I've already downloaded them all and just need to sort and assemble them. Since there are like 216 tracks in CTGPR 1.03, manually sorting them all is not an option for me at least.
+
In the Common.css, you should make the following changes:
 +
*Remove the <code>width</code>, <code>color</code>, <code>padding</code> and <code>margin</code> from <code>.textbox.nobox</code>, as they're already part of <code>.textbox</code>.
 +
*Set the <code>margin</code> for <code>.textbox</code> to <code>1em 0</code>. It gives a better spacing.
 +
*Set the <code>margin</code> for <code>.multi-col</code> to <code>-1em 0</code>. It fixes the spacing on the main page.
 +
--maczkopeti (talk) 19:14, 13 June 2015 (UTC)

Now I have some questions. What does [ctt12] mean? Cam Tom Troy modified?
+
:First, the common.css is generated by script. I declare the colors and names of the schemes by a table. So the attributes of nobox don't bother. And I don't remember, if there are important for other combinations.
 +
:I don't think, that your margins are really better. Continues drift away. However, I can reduce the multi col top margin to 0em, but it bad if used in other contexts.
 +
:-- Wiimm (talk) 06:48, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

(Partially relevant, not sure if you care) Also, do you have any suggestions for automatically searching for the correct track in each case? Search for the root string, then do a ranking algorithm based on when it was uploaded, and how well it matches? The CTGPR 1.03 page formats track names a bit differently from your archive, for example not including authors, which means I have to do an approximate head match.
+
::The margin settings i gave are the same as the ones used in wikitables. Compare the current settings with my settings.

On the other hand, I could crowd-source it, but I don't think I can find people.
+
::As for <code>.multi-col</code>, I found the solution by adding a <code>margin</code> modifier to the template.

Two more variations.  I set the opacity of the '8' overlay to 63%.  I also moved the custom mario part over slightly so it would better match the original.  It was 50% in 1 and 2.  75% in 3.  Also Yellow version with 63%.

::So here are my thoughts on logo designs.  All MK wikis should have a similar base logo.  This identifies them as being related wikis.  Each logo should have something distinctive that ties into the game it is for - the MK8 logo has the "8" loop, and the MKWii logo should have some element from the MKWii box art or the Wii in general.  It would make sense for the "Wii" in "Wiiki" to have the actual Wii logo incorporated into it; it would simultaneously explain the name "Wiiki" and why the term isn't used on the other wikis.  Additionally, each logo should be distinctive enough to identify the wiki at a glance; color is important here.--Jefe (talk) 20:32, 6 August 2014 (UTC)

You have edited the page KMP (File Format) 3 times in 3 minutes, when the maximum allowed is 2 times in 15 minutes, even if you're editing separated sections of the same page. I know you're the wiki's administrator, but I think the rules apply to all users without exception. Use the Show preview button before saving maybe? Or just wait 15 minutes after editing again the same page twice. Some users could take this behaviour as an example, and I don't think it's good to see the wiki spammed with lots of edits in a row. I understand everybody commits errors, but in this case, I wouldn't have written this message if you had put in the summary of the third edit you knew you were violating the rules and it was just an error. We talk about the Wiimmfi logo? Why will you edit it? -- Wiimm (talk) 12:00, 30 November 2014 (UTC)
At the time I was helping Huili with his cover of MKW Hack Pack. After he checked, the edited Wiimmfi logo was one of the things he kindly asked to be removed. Help with Wiimm's SZS Tools

My custom track will not load. I tried replacing the water_course.szs's kcl with my tracks, and it loaded. The same happened with the kmp and course_model.brres, but when I added my model, Koopa Cape would not load. Is there any way to use Wiim's SZS Tools to fix this?

Music and Track Slots

I have been looking at this page for help figuring out what music slot I want my track on. However, I want to use certain songs that are not on this list, and they include Galaxy Colosseum and the Ending Demo (for the track SADX Twinkle Circuit of course). I was wondering if you knew what those values are. I was assuming they would be GC and ED but I'm not sure. - Thank you in advance for reading this. Huili (talk) 18:51, 19 December 2014 (UTC)

The music slot of Galaxy Colosseum is 0xC9.
--maczkopeti (talk) 18:59, 19 December 2014 (UTC)
Thank you Maczkopeti, but that is not the answer I want to be honest. Allow me to rephrase it this way: I know that if I put LC down, that would mean I'm putting Luigi Circuit on any track/slot combination. I want to know what that is for Galaxy Colosseum and Ending Demo. -- Huili

Bug track

I'm working on a update of SNES Bowser Castle 1 and there is a bug I have never seen. Sometimes I can drive through some item boxes and sometimes I can't. I can also drive through other items like cpus, dussonc, red shells, green shells, bananas and F.I.B. The difference between the versions are that I have adjust the Y-value (from around 4000 to 5000) and made a new course.kcl and course_model.brres and adjusted the Y-values in the KMP. I think something has happened in the kmp. What should I do? Can I read about this somewhere?
Wexosmk (talk) 14:59, 3 June 2015 (UTC)

Only some guesses:
  • What are the settings for special items (players and compis)? Set them to 0.
  • Adjusting the height may change the position of a hidden item box (and other objects) to a reachable place.
Wiimm (talk) 11:59, 4 June 2015 (UTC)
I have no special items (settings are 0) and the height is set to 5300 which is the right y-posision. I think I'm going to make a completly new KMP File. That will take time but I'm not going to solve this.
Wexosmk (talk) 18:18, 4 June 2015 (UTC)
When I made a new file the same thing happened again but I have found an error. It's the f_itembox that causes all that, I have tested. I load the track over Grumble Volcano. f_itembox settings are:
1: A
2: 0
3: 0
4: 1
5: 6 or 0, depends on delay.
6: 0

The route settings Smooth and Cyclic are set to 0. Route settings are exactly like in bc3, the itemboxes that goes up and down in the ramp section. I don't see a problem, do you?
Wexosmk (talk) 17:54, 5 June 2015 (UTC)
I can't see a problem. How long is the route (in points)? The start point (setting #5) must be smaller than the number of points.
-- Wiimm (talk) 22:25, 5 June 2015 (UTC)
The routes has 12 (0-B) points each. And I don't think it's a problem on the slot because I have tested it on N64 Bowser's Castle too.
Wexosmk (talk) 08:18, 6 June 2015 (UTC)

Common.css

In the Common.css, you should make the following changes:

  • Remove the width, color, padding and margin from .textbox.nobox, as they're already part of .textbox.
  • Set the margin for .textbox to 1em 0. It gives a better spacing.
  • Set the margin for .multi-col to -1em 0. It fixes the spacing on the main page.

--maczkopeti (talk) 19:14, 13 June 2015 (UTC)

First, the common.css is generated by script. I declare the colors and names of the schemes by a table. So the attributes of nobox don't bother. And I don't remember, if there are important for other combinations.
I don't think, that your margins are really better. Continues drift away. However, I can reduce the multi col top margin to 0em, but it bad if used in other contexts.
-- Wiimm (talk) 06:48, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
The margin settings i gave are the same as the ones used in wikitables. Compare the current settings with my settings.
As for .multi-col, I found the solution by adding a margin modifier to the template.
--maczkopeti (talk) 10:50, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

I made new settings for multi column: Show text

It removes all of the unnecessary settings and fixes the padding on the columns (currently, they have an unneeded 1px padding).
--maczkopeti (talk) 22:52, 21 June 2015 (UTC)

A general note:
At the moment I'm working very hard to improve Wiimmfi and mkw-ana. So I reduced my wiki administration to nearly null. css and also the external translation script is on my todo list.

You can create a text file using any text editor and copy+paste, or you simply use the file of the distribution found in subdirectory ./scprits/kcl/

  • Copy all files from the installation directory to here.

Lap count modifier

Why don't you use the lap count modifier code for your distributions? It is available in the CTT Pack. You could have proper 7 laps for GCN Baby Park without the checkpoint workaround.
--maczkopeti (talk) 22:16, 11 August 2015 (UTC)

Simple reason: No time. My to-do lists for mkw-ana and Wiimmfi are really full. So I decided to only exchange tracks for the mkw-fun series and sometimes to modify a tracks. And all CTGP stuff is delayed.
About 3x3 instead of 7: It's very easy to change it to 3x3. And in out tournaments we like it.
-- Wiimm (talk) 22:36, 11 August 2015 (UTC)
The Problem is that you can't insert the max lap count modifier in a iso. The users have to add the codes manually what means that some people play with 3 laps (they not activated the max lap count modiifer) or 7 laps (they ::activated them) The could also simple add other cheats to the cheat file. The cheat protection would be then also gone, because the unedited main.dol blocks the max lap count modifier cheat.
Wiimm need to insert the code into the CTGP_CODe, but like he said he haven't enough time + chadderz anounnched it but he also not have time.

Lower Walls

Sucht93a said that he asked you about lowering walls in track. I couldn't lower the in 3DS Cheep Cheep Lagoon since some walls got buggy when I did that. What do I need to change in lower-walls.txt?
Wexos (talk) 15:18, 17 December 2015 (UTC)

He told me, that you have especially problems with non vertical walls. You can edit the script at 2 places to filter A) only some kind of walls and B) only with almost vertical walls:
# Setup
@def start	= mSec()	# start time, for the status line
@def mod_count	= 0		# modification counter

# Get the value for lowering the walls.
# If 'lower' is defined as number by option --const, use it.
# Otherwise use the default of 30.
@def lower = isNumeric(lower) ? lower : 30

# Define a function to test the KCL flag for walls
@function isWall # flag
    @pdef t = $1 & 0x1f
#---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
# A1) remove unwanted wall types
#   @return t == 0x0c || t == 0x0d || t == 0x0f || t == 0x14 || t == 0x1e || t == 0x1f
# A2) or replace KCL types by complete types
    @return $1 == 0x0c12 || $1 == 0x0d14  # <<<<< EDIT HERE
#---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
@endfunction

# Main loop: Iterate through all triangles
@for t=0;tri$n()-1
    @if isWall(tri$flag(t))
    	@def norm = tri$normal(t,0) #  get the first normal
#-----------------------------------------------------------------
# B) replace the value to filter vertical walls
#    	@if abs(norm.y) < 0.707 # 45 degree   <<<<< old
    	@if abs(norm.y) < sin(10) # 10 degree <<<<< new
#-----------------------------------------------------------------
	    # Is it a wall? If yes, lower the wall & increment counter
	    @def status = tri$shift(t,-vy(lower))
	    @def mod_count = mod_count+1
	@endif
    @endif
@endfor

# Print a little status line
@echo "  - " mod_count " of " tri$n() " triangles lowered by " lower
	> " in " (mSec()-start) " msec."

Rules?

Thanks for reading. —Atlas (talk) 10:56, 10 July 2016 (UTC)
