Minimap Is Too Small, Can't Re-size It

Title explains the whole problem, please help. I made the model of the minimap small, it's not a bug. --Hjklrr (talk) 17:05, 20 April 2013 (UTC)

Have you tried my tools with automatic minimap centering?
If this fails, please send me a working copy of the track.
Wiimm (talk) 18:49, 20 April 2013 (UTC)

Umm, how? I'm not that good at this, and all that's in the track is the model and the super mini minimap. --Hjklrr (talk) 19:40, 20 April 2013 (UTC)

Then asked again, if your track is playable and you have still problems with the minimap.
Wiimm (talk) 20:48, 20 April 2013 (UTC)

I mean that the track only has that so far, and all that I need the minimap for is the start line, player positions, and finish line. --Hjklrr (talk) 00:12, 21 April 2013 (UTC)

Then send me the track. There is an existing minimap, correct?
Wiimm (talk) 08:51, 21 April 2013 (UTC)

Yes, I sent the track, check your mariokartwii.com inbox, and please, please don't distribute the track until it's finished. Also, it's just the models, not the course file. That's all you really need to resize it. --Hjklrr (talk) 11:54, 21 April 2013 (UTC)

I have seen the PM, and it's not a running track file. I'm not willing to spent my time to create a SZS for you. Please try CTools BRRES Editor to create a minimap; it's very easy.
Wiimm (talk) 17:00, 21 April 2013 (UTC)

Brres Editor keeps giving me an error, I do not ask you to make the SZS, I can do that myself, just please resize the minimap file and send it to me, that's it. --Hjklrr (talk) 18:42, 21 April 2013 (UTC)

http://download.wiimm.de/szs/hjklrr.zip -- Wiimm (talk) 05:43, 22 April 2013 (UTC)

Thank you, and please, now that I have downloaded it, take that link down. --Hjklrr (talk) 10:24, 23 April 2013 (UTC)

Message Board

Offtopic & Edit: I think that the wiki should have an editable message board. Like maybe you need someone to help with a custom track, or you need help with something and you don't know who to ask. --Hjklrr (talk) 17:05, 20 April 2013 (UTC)

We have 3 ways of communication:
  1. Wiki Track Discussion
  2. Wiki User Discussion
  3. Forum <deleted link>
Wiimm (talk) 18:49, 20 April 2013 (UTC)

Umm, were is that? --Hjklrr (talk) 00:14, 21 April 2013 (UTC)

Have you tried the links? -- Wiimm (talk) 08:51, 21 April 2013 (UTC)

.obj File Downsizing

Hi! I need help with this track I want to make (found on 3D Warehouse). The .skp file was about 9MB but the .obj file was over 175MB so it might cause very heavy lag. Is there a way to reduce the file size? --MitsySueG24 (talk) 21:53, 23 April 2013 (UTC)

You must reduce the number of faces. I'm not an expert in this. Best is, to ask in the forums of mariokartwii.com. If I remember right, I have seen there a thread talking about this.
Wiimm (talk) 21:59, 23 April 2013 (UTC)

Table: Track Name (Author) vs Track Name

I'm not going to say which is better, but would it good to have a bot change all the ports' tables to have the track name instead of {{PAGENAME}}?
-- Have a nice day, from ZillaSpaz 02:46, 19 August 2013 (UTC)

I think we must not spent out time in this now. But stopping the replacement of real names by PAGENAME will reduce future work.

Misc

Spam(bots)

I was wondering; do all those spammers have the same ip range, so we can prevent other spammers to appear? It is getting worse and worse last weeks.
kHacker35000vr (talk) 15:09, 28 April 2013 (UTC)

Please Send me the address range (best is via PM) -- Wiimm (talk) 18:00, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
I can't see the ip addresses, I was wondering if all bans were on the same ip range.
kHacker35000vr (talk) 22:41, 28 April 2013 (UTC)

Will it be possible to let new users do a captcha first, before allowing to create their account? 5 spamaccounts a day is way too much.
kHacker35000vr (talk) 12:08, 7 June 2013 (UTC)

Tock handled this (including wiki related question) until now.
Wiimm (talk) 12:50, 7 June 2013 (UTC)

Wiimm, it would be nice if moderators could hide page names on deletion, but we don't have that option. Some of these spam pages have very long, convoluted page names that are just as bad as the spam content. --Jefe (talk) 21:40, 18 July 2013 (UTC)

Time ago I was able to to it. But now I have only simple deletion rights as all moderators. I'll look, how to enable this at the weekend.
Wiimm (talk) 21:54, 18 July 2013 (UTC)
Moderators have now 2 new rights (don't know, if both are needed): deleterevision, deletelogentry
After deletion goto the deletion list, mark the entries, press the button and activate "Hide action and target"
This feature is temporary enabled until Tocks permission. Be careful using this new feature.

DS Waluigi Pinball Beta wbz?

Hi, Do you have DS Waluigi Pinball Beta wbz file? I can't find it in your archive. --MitsySueG24 (talk) 01:00, 13 September 2013 (UTC)

Sort the list by name and you can find it.
Wiimm (talk) 13:29, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
Hmm... It seems like DS Waluigi Pinball BETA (Yoshidude+Turbo Yoshi).wbz is actually the Beta of the real DS Waluigi Pinball. I don't think its in the archive... --MitsySueG24 (talk) 14:03, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
You're right. And I haven't the track. -- Wiimm (talk) 14:08, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
Ok. Thanks anyway. --MitsySueG24 (talk) 18:18, 13 September 2013 (UTC)

WBZ Converter Default Encoding Program

What is the default encoding program for WBZ Converter for .sh files? I can't seem to make them work now that I use the CMD.exe --MitsySueG24 (talk) 01:56, 29 September 2013 (UTC)

It's not really clear, what you men. *.sh file are unix shell scripts. Independent of the script language, the standard conversion commands are "wszst norm --szs TRACKFILE" or "wszst norm --wbz TRACKFILE". However, my tools accept WBZ/SZS/U8/WU8 as input transparently if the auto-add library is available.
Wiimm (talk) 08:31, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
Uh... I used the WBZ Converter (not Wiimm's SZS Tools), then I lost the "default" program of the .sh files. --MitsySueG24 (talk) 22:24, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
Sorry for late answer, but I was so busy with my mkw-fun-100 project. You mean, you lost your windows setting that does something when clicking a *.sh file? If yes: Don't know why. If I remember right, the converter don't change the registry or install something.
Wiimm (talk) 22:32, 3 October 2013 (UTC)
Yes. It is exactly the problem that I seem to have problems with. I accidentally changed the default setting for opening .sh files --MitsySueG24 (talk) 00:51, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
This should be irrelevant for the converter, because you start the jobs with the *.bat files. On my Win PC, *.sh is connected with a text editor.

Editing KCL's

Hi, and I have a quick question. How would you edit the KCL with a 3D Tool with an OBJ created by your tools? Shadow (talk) 00:21, 20 October 2013 (UTC)

I always edit the KCL using scripts (option --kcl-script). This makes re-using on updates and changing the patch easier. But it is also possible with a 3D editor. Just export the modified OBJ again and create a new KCL with wkclt. A flag assignment file is not needed, because the old KCL flags are coded into the last 6 characters of the obj groups (compare this step 3).

Fast ISO Generator Idea

I have an idea to ISO generation faster.

  • Extract the original ISO with WIT.
    • Delete all original SZS files. Add placeholder files, for example "2MB#010.szs", it is the 10th File , which holds up to 2 megabytes.
    • Make a base ISO file with WIT. If you have files that require more than 2 megabytes, you have to remake a larger base ISO file, that takes a long time.
  • Download all files WBZ, change them into SZS.
  • Use AutoWiiscrubber to replace the contents of each placeholder file with the real thing.
    • Note that there is no such thing as AutoWiiscrubber yet, you must create your own, or look in WiiScrubber NG. I personally am very interested.
    • For example , set "GCN Rainbow Road v1.3 (CaronHT, Wiimm).SZS" in the "2MB#010.szs" because it does not fit in a 1MB file.
  • Then assign a slot to "2MB#010.szs", but name the slot "GCN Rainbow Road"
  • Then if you need to upgrade to "GCN Rainbow Road" to 1.4, use AutoWiiscrubber to replace "2MB#010.szs" with the new " GCN Rainbow Road 1.4" SZS that was downloaded.
    • If the new GCN Rainbow Road is more than 2 megabytes, you need to move it to a "4MB#???" SZS slot.
  • When transferring to a USB hard drive on Wii (also takes a long time) to play, you just need to recopy changed files and possibly the BMG/StaticR.rel/main.dol. You need to find out which parts of the file (you probably know more about it than I do) changed.

You need to track which track is in which slot. --TeamCTGPi (talk) 01:22, 24 October 2013 (UTC)

Please tell me first, what is "fast"in minutes and seconds. -- Wiimm (talk) 06:19, 24 October 2013 (UTC)
2013-04 took between one and 10 minutes. Wiiscrubber takes around 1 second or less per file, but the GUI can't be automated. Base ISO slow still. --TeamCTGPi (talk) 00:20, 25 October 2013 (UTC)
You speak about my distributions? And you want an incremental system? If that is the core of your concern?
For my distributions I will not do something like this. The current system works very well inclusive my patcher-built-system. And I see no disadvantage, if the user must wait 10-30 minutes for the patcher * 3-6 times per year, because the patcher don't need any interaction.
Wiimm (talk) 08:14, 25 October 2013 (UTC)
And here you see a log with timestamps of my built system: [1]
Creation of a test wbfs needs less than 1 minute. I use this to test all new tracks. I simply drop the track files into a directory and call "make". For my private usage, converting to and from WU8 is omitted.
Wiimm (talk) 08:36, 25 October 2013 (UTC)
I will try to do it myself. Though it will not be easy. --TeamCTGPi (talk) 22:16, 25 October 2013 (UTC)

Mario Kart 8

Why candidate for deletion? It's incomplete, because not much is known about it. Other pages, such as Mario Kart 7, offer about the same amount of information. If deleted, we're just going to make the page again when it comes out.
-- Have a nice day, from ZillaSpaz 09:06, 29 October 2013 (UTC)

Mistake, because the old CT distribution by TravixMan leaded me to this article.
btw: I will clean the old distributions at mid/end november -- more than 2 weeks time for the authors.
Wiimm (talk) 10:31, 29 October 2013 (UTC)

Refresh Road

From now on all the links of download of my races will be protected by a password... If that does not please you delete the corresponding pages... I refuse this stupid rule which says that only videos recorded on wii are valid because more than 50 % of videos are made on Dolphin, thank you NinYoda1 (talk) 20:42, 2 November 2013 (UTC)

Password protection is your decision, but not acceptable in this wiki. All informations should be free!
Dolphin videos is discussable and I'm the wrong address for this critics. But in fact, dolphin do thinks in a different way as the Wii. So Wii videos are clearly preferred by me.

History

You did a little fail.

I saw that you put the article back, but you must delte the nebula factory page and move the Usertalk:L page back.

Otherwise the history is not complete.

khacker35000vr said this to me for about 2 weeks. --Horsti12 (talk) 22:35, 23 November 2013 (UTC)

Fakarvo57

Please look at Talk page of Toad Town. What am I to do about this? Shadow (talk) 09:14, 24 November 2013 (UTC)

Nothing, Torran have already blocked Kemzy. — Wiimm (talk) 10:39, 24 November 2013 (UTC)

Your ISO Patcher

Hello, I was wondering where I could find a download for your ISO Patcher, as I couldn't find one. I'd like to use it. --From FunkyDude (talk) 16:04, 30 November 2013 (UTC)

The ISO-Patcher was always only an extract of the MKW-Fun Distribution.
Always the best is to use the most current MKW-Fun, remove the patch.tar file and both *.list files. Then edit create-image.sh and provide an own patch.tar or patch.zip.
Wiimm (talk) 20:54, 30 November 2013 (UTC)
Also, are your ISOs compatible with Dolphin? --From FunkyDude (talk) 23:25, 30 November 2013 (UTC)
I haven't used Dolphin for years. So I can't answer it directly. My tools support ISO, WBFS, CISO, WDF and WIA.

TheMygoshi alias Proround

Hi Wiimm, excuse me for desagrements of me, I'm TheMygoshi, please, I did nothing now, excuse me, sincerely .... 19:25 08 December 2013 (UTC)
Last chance, we watching you!! — Wiimm (talk) 18:54, 8 December 2013 (UTC)
Can you deban my IP adress ? It is banned since 2011... please. - Proround (talk) 18:07, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
Done!
I think, the best is to use your old user name "TheMygoshi". Or?
Wiimm (talk) 19:32, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
Thx, yes, I want TheMygoshi :D 21:31, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
TheMygoshi is now unblocked again, but Proround is blocked — Wiimm (talk) 20:39, 9 December 2013 (UTC)

Royal Castleway

Why my video was removed ? She's in 1080p HD O_o and not slowed!!. --TheMygoshi, 19:29, 15 December 2013 (UTC)

First: The Wii sends max 720p, so the video can't never be true 1080p (it's only scaled up). Then compare singe frames with the old video and you see many artefacts in your video, much more than in the old one. pixel resolution is only one point, bandwidth and lossless editing are other points.

Loading KCL-OBJ files in 3DS Max 2011

When I decode a kcl and load it in 3DS Max, it throws an error : Invalid Vertex Index --Shadow (talk) 19:48, 21 December 2013 (UTC)
Add option --kmp drop to remove all bad triangles.
Wiimm (talk) 00:19, 22 December 2013 (UTC)
I have done so, but maybe my import options are wrong. It still throws this error.
Shadow (talk) 02:33, 22 December 2013 (UTC)
Best is you send me the KCL. But don't expect any work by me before xmas.
18:38, 22 December 2013 (UTC)
Download KCL
Shadow (talk) 18:54, 22 December 2013 (UTC)
Fast analysis: Your KCL has 41441 faces. On export, my tools produces a vertex list with 81570 elements. A guess: My tools only use 16 bits for referencing the the vertices (65535 vertices max).
I put this on my bug list and will try to solve it later.
Wiimm (talk) 23:28, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
For the OBJ export I have fixed it (internal working copy only). Here is the exported OBJ: http://download.wiimm.de/test/toad.zip
However, the KCL is much to big. Remove the houses far away from the road. Also, a KCL house must only have 4 walls.
Wiimm (talk) 23:49, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
Thank you! So I must reduce the amount of houses in the KCL model.
Shadow (talk) 02:39, 24 December 2013 (UTC)
A note: It's only a export problem, because a KCL works with normals and can never have more than 65535 indices. However, a normal list overflow is possible.
Oh ok, so if a normal list overflow is achieved, an obj file is able to have more indices.
Shadow (talk) 23:14, 27 December 2013 (UTC)
The bug is fixed in the version of today (see change log) -- Wiimm (talk) 23:49, 27 December 2013 (UTC)

Skype

Wiimm, do you happen to have a skype account? If so, could I have your skype name? Thanks, --BulletMKW (talk) 15:17, 28 December 2013 (UTC)

Sorry, but I don't use skype. -- Wiimm (talk) 12:41, 29 December 2013 (UTC)

Scaling Error

I use your tools very frequently, and they are very good, but when I scale a track up by 5%, it goes from this to this. What happened?
Shadow (talk) 12:14, 31 December 2013 (UTC)
My suggestion: The view is cropped (cut at the borders).
What command line have you used?
Wiimm (talk) 12:17, 31 December 2013 (UTC)
I used this command:
wszst patch --scale 1.05 GCN_Tilt-a-Kart(Shadow)1.0a.szs
Shadow (talk) 13:51, 31 December 2013 (UTC)
I think, it is really a cropping problem in your view tool, because I don't change the minimal and maximal values.
However, I know, that the SZS Modifier swapped the meanings of min/max of the x and z axis for minimaps. I found this on updating Daisy Cruiser with a very small x-range.
Wiimm (talk) 14:59, 31 December 2013 (UTC)
I shall test this modification in-game and post the results here.
Shadow (talk) 16:39, 31 December 2013 (UTC)

Welcoming New Users

Is it okay for me to welcome new users? This applies to future new users. -- Michael (talk) 03:09, 11 January 2014 (UTC)

yes -- Wiimm (talk) 09:08, 11 January 2014 (UTC)

Bot Edits

Did any of your recent updates to the Wiiki cause a regression in bot edits? If you see: Special:Contributions/TorranBOT, the bot flag which normally appears next to edits by bots no longer exists. Recent edits by KHacker's bot also lack the bot flag now and as such, those edits now send out notifications when they did not before. I believe the change happened around the start of 2014 so it should be a recent change. --Torran (talk) 19:55, 13 January 2014 (UTC)
