About Wiimmfi

Are you serious?

So, I edited this place of this thread : http://wiki.tockdom.com/wiki/User_talk:Wiimm/Archive/2014-01-21#TheMygoshi_alias_Proround Because I don't want to share my IP right now, so why do you share my IP in public? I know I did it but now I don't want to share this.

You should know that it's prohibited to have more than one account in the Wiiki. Why do you use this second account instead? —Atlas (talk) 19:41, 15 August 2016 (UTC)
  1. Yes, I'm serious!
  2. Are you the one who edited the page and destroyed not only an ip address (=vandalism)? (rhetoric question)
  3. I didn't reverted your edits -- so I'm the wrong address for this aggressive question.
  4. However, I find that the revert was right, because
    • You hide not only an ip address.
    • You are not the person, who inserted the ip address.
-- Wiimm (talk) 21:45, 15 August 2016 (UTC)
"You are not the person, who inserted the ip address."
Actually, he is.
--maczkopeti (talk) 10:06, 16 August 2016 (UTC)
Don't need to be rude, I didn't want to be agressive. Just I don't want to share infos like this in public now, I know it's possible to get my IP just here but I don't want to have this written in a page.. Thanks for removing my Skype on my THeMygoshi profile.

I am traveling for a few days. So don't expect anything from me in the week. -- Wiimm (talk) 23:13, 15 October 2016 (UTC)
OK Aplumafreak500 (talk) 23:15, 15 October 2016 (UTC)
Is this a new version of countdown capable of running on the battle "slot" so you could have regional VS and regional countdown both in one distribution? Or is this just the old (already known) patch which replaces VS? -- Leseratte (talk) 08:46, 16 October 2016 (UTC)
Unfortunately I don't know how to replace battle with Countdown. Also, this patch is meant to allow Worldwide and Regional play on Countdown Mode (read: not CTWW) Aplumafreak500 (talk) 16:06, 16 October 2016 (UTC)

About custom tracks not available for download

Star Slope as of v1.0 and onwards is not available for download. The only way to play the track is downloading CTGP Revolution and using a "cheat code" to add the track to a cup. From what I've interpreted of the Wiiki rules, this is not allowed here, as all content should be directly available for everyone. Is the Wiiki allowed to host a custom track page and distribution like that? Aside from that, it is true that more than 6 months had passed after the release of the previous version of the track, and I as the original creator had allowed Torran to remake it, but I got no saying on the fact the track is not available for download. --Igorseabra4 (talk) 03:44, 13 November 2016 (UTC)

This is a difficult topic. On the one hand, this wiki is a kind of an encyclopedia with all malformations about MKW. On the other hand we have the rule of an existing download link (current or past) to avoid announcements of vaporware. So I'm not sure, if we should remove the newer versions. But it is maczkopetis choice. He replaced me as Wiki administrator. If we remove the updates, we should leave at least a notification like "Torran made private updates."
About Torran: In the past he was a nice guy and helped others. Meanwhile he is a very egoistic man and do many things only for CTGP. I read statements of him like "I know the problem, but I don't tell you". And Only-CTGP tracks is the another unfriendly action by him. Leseratte talked with MrBean about this months ago. And he said, he will make public all tracks in CTGP.
Best is to ask him directly for the current version! And if this fails, ask MrBean.
-- Wiimm (talk) 11:06, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
I'm not interested in having the file myself, I'm just concerned about if it's right or not to have the track like that. I guess I'll just ask Bean about it then. --Igorseabra4 (talk) 02:35, 14 November 2016 (UTC)

Lap & Speed Modifier

Hello Wiimm!

I contacted you a while back with questions about your Lap & Speed Modifier, and how to use it. If this is a more appropriate venue to get assistance, and if you are not too busy, any other assistance would be fantastic!

Also, is there a convenient way to donate to you and/or other custom MK content creators for your work? I'd certainly like to support all this cool stuff, and I've only just begun to enjoy it!

Thanks!
--Unsigned comment by Lsh4 (talk).

I personally do not accept donations. However, we have some problems to finance the Wiimmfi server in the next year. We will discuss it in the next week. So simply wait a while. -- Wiimm (talk) 15:06, 19 December 2016 (UTC)
Okay, I understand. Thanks!

Page deletion

Hey Wiimm! Can you delete the page Inkling35000vr's CT Pack please? I don't need the page anymore since I canceled it. Inkling35000vr (talk) 20:10, 21 January 2017 (EST)

Done. Next time you should put "[[Category:Delete]]" on the page that you want to delete.
--Wexos (Talk | Contribs) 10:17, 22 January 2017 (UTC)
And what's about the reserved regions (174,628-665)?
-- Wiimm (talk) 11:21, 22 January 2017 (UTC)
Thanks! I think I'll use region 174 for testing and I'll use regions 628-665 for future projects. Inkling35000vr (talk) 08:58, 22 January 2017 (EST)

Custom Track Regions

Hello Wiimm, may I please reserve the region 7777?

Thank you, Dogma (talk) 15:25, 7 February 2017 (UTC)

What does the Region table tell you? -- Wiimm (talk) 18:26, 7 February 2017 (UTC)
1001-8898 | 7898 free regions ? Sorry if I've missed something, I'm new to this and I got told to ask you on here.
-- Dogma (talk) 02:32, 8 February 2017 (UTC)
First, reserve a region by yourself by editing that page - but please pick a region at the beginning or end of a range and do not "split" a free slot - so I'd recommend 1001 or 8898.
Then, ask Wiimm to activate the region on Wiimmfi. -- Leseratte (talk) 10:44, 9 February 2017 (UTC)
Thank you Leseratte, I appreciate your help! :)
-- Dogma (talk) 12:05, 9 February 2017 (UTC)

Hey Wiimm, could I reserve region 815? From region 815-898 they're free so yea. It's for a hack pack in progress that i'm creating, Dank Kart Wii.

Thanks, SpartaYoshi (talk) 20:22, 24 April 2017 (UTC)

User names and redirects

Hello Wiimm, I don't understand why you revert my edits to leave the long username with "User:". Isn't the purpose of user redirects to have less letters in the pages? If it isn't, why aren't then all user redirects removed? I'm confused now. —Atlas (talk) 20:29, 14 February 2017 (UTC)

user:Wiimm is a user of this wiki, but Wiimm is an article about the human Wiimm. And the article is only needed, if the user is important enough for the community (author of a track, distribution, software, ...). Articles should tell in third person like other articles, and user pages in first person. Sadly, the articles are redirected to the users because of laziness (maybe a fault of me and other moderators in the past). Years ago I planned to split both entries for the most important people and to revert the redirects, but I haven't time for it.
As summary, a redirect from Wiimm to user:Wiimm is illogical and should not be forced, but fixed.
So it is not needed to add a redirect for new users.
-- Wiimm (talk) 23:18, 14 February 2017 (UTC)
I understand now, thanks. —Atlas (talk) 23:32, 14 February 2017 (UTC)

Custom tracks disappearing from track selection screen

Hi Wiimm, really enjoying the huge collection of custom tracks in MKW-Fun 2016-10. However, I'm encountering an issue in VS mode. I choose a course, play through it, and then when the game returns to the track selection screen, it only shows the original 8 cups from Mario Kart Wii. The left and right arrows are still there but after the crown/lightning cups it just loops around to the mushroom/shell cups. Here's what I'm seeing. The cups with custom tracks appear again after quitting VS and starting VS again. This happens in all player modes (1 player, 2 player, etc.) I've worked around this by choosing random track selection, which at least lets me play custom tracks without having to quit VS after every race, but of course I can't choose which tracks to play. I have the same problem with MKW-Fun 2016-07. I'm using the English version on Dolphin 5. Mindnight (talk) 17:53, 2 April 2017 (UTC)

Never heard about it before. maybe a distrib-creation bug. So only help I can give:
  1. Try at a real Wii
  2. Re-create the image again.
-- Wiimm (talk) 22:01, 8 April 2017 (UTC)
It works fine on a real Wii. Strange. I recreated the image and still have the issue on Dolphin. Mindnight (talk) 05:51, 10 April 2017 (UTC)
Dolphin is not perfect! -- Wiimm (talk) 21:29, 10 April 2017 (UTC)
This post on the Dolphin Emulator's blog has a couple paragraphs about this. The CT-CODE does not properly clear the icache and instead relies on a quirk of the Wii's processor to do the job. If this were to be emulated, it would cause extreme (14x, apparently) performance drops, so it isn't. The task is (probably) simple (for a programmer): edit the CT-CODE's source code to properly clear the icache.
(also, lol, that post refers to Wiimms MKW Fun as "Wiimm's Mario Kart Wii More Fun"
--Cotni (talk|contribs) 22:19, 10 April 2017 (UTC)
Here is the source code if a programmer wants to fix this: https://github.com/Wiimm/wii-ct-code/blob/master/bad1/bad1Data/mod/filter.mod
Neither Wiimm nor me know the internals of Dolphin.
Either a developer more experienced with the dolphin internals fixes this - the CT-CODE source code version used in MKW Fun is available - or the Dolphin developers fix that in dolphin.
If someone tells me the exact instruction(s) we'd need to clear from the instruction cache, I could try to implement it. A general "clear the cache" does not help with solving the problem.

Severe Wiimmfi Lag

Hi! I'm a new member of this wiki. I just wanted to ask for help with my Wiimmfi connection, as it seems to be very laggy in both CTGP (where I get kicked out of the room before even starting the race) and Hack Pack (where it doesn't even let me access). Since I always get error codes like 20100 or 61070, I tried to check my connection settings and everything seems OK, but I still can't solve the problem. Can you help me please? --Unsigned comment by TheChibiKing (talk).

No private support. Ask one of the forums, there many helpers with more experience in network problems.

Idea

Since the number of CT slots is limited to 248 tracks (including originals), do ypu think it would be possible to merge the CT Code edits with CTGP 4.4's layer system ? It would bring the total possible track number to 744. I'm asking you since you know a lot about MKW and actually reply to people. -Dswii3ds (talk) 19:59, 18 August 2017 (UTC)

Leseratte is working at another technical solution. But it will take a long time -- Wiimm (talk) 21:03, 18 August 2017 (UTC)
The layer system is only a substitute for the track selection menu. It doesn't give us more slots. The online mode is the problem since the track selection online and the winning vote selection only use one byte for the track ID. -- Leseratte (talk) 21:24, 18 August 2017 (UTC)

A quetsion about Wiimmfi

File Hosting

Would it matter if i made a site to host MKW related files ? It has no limits except file formats. Would you be interested ? -Dswii3ds (talk) 11:06, 19 October 2017 (UTC)

The more people host all the files, the more difficult it is for Nintendo. Therefore, it is a good idea.
-- Wiimm (talk) 11:55, 19 October 2017 (UTC)
I finished setting it up. Here's the link : http://mkwcloud.ml -Dswii3ds (talk) 15:27, 20 October 2017 (UTC)

CT Archive author name mixup

It appears that everything that should say "Ermelber" says "Cotni" instead. For example, Ermelber Circuit by Ermelber is named Cotni Circuit by Cotni, and GCN Yoshi Circuit is attributed to Yoshidude4 and Cotni. Did you intend to rename "Emergamer02"? --Cotni (talk|contribs) 23:40, 18 November 2017 (UTC)

I wanted to rename Emergamer02 to Cotni, and then I renamed Ermelber. I fixed all now. If you find errors, please tell me. -- Wiimm (talk) 00:08, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
Thanks. 3DS Wuhu Loop is attributed to me and Rukasudo instead of just Rukasudo. --Cotni (talk|contribs) 00:13, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
Fixed too -- Wiimm (talk) 00:19, 19 November 2017 (UTC)

Overzealous edits/regulation by other mods

Here and here. In the past I've run into conflicts with this mod, and it's ridiculous - since they have the power to moderate/locked pages, I am powerless to keep in practical edits (specifying that release notes can be found in the download/specifying, that DJ Lowgey contributed only to v1 (her shoudl not get credit for v2), moving the discussion page as it no longer reflects the current version at all) I am not even going to contest is by editing because, again, I am powerless. Can I ask for your permission/review on these edits? Correcting them myself will only result in them being undone - in the past, other mods has assisted me with similar eagerness from inactive mod Jefe by hiding my "practical" input with bot edit. --SuperMario64DS (talk) 15:34, 16 February 2018 (UTC)

To specify: I'm sorry Wexos, but I want to hear from Wiimm on this. If you have any input, please discuss with me on my talk page. It's frustrating to have informative/useful edits retracted without comment. --SuperMario64DS (talk) 15:36, 16 February 2018 (UTC)
I agree with SM64, these edits are ridiculous. I think the pages for the versions can be seperated, like 3DS DK Jungle. There could be a page GP Mario Beach (DJ Lowgey & SM64DS) and GP Mario Beach (SM64DS). It doesnt make sense how 3DS DK Jungle can have this but GP Mario Beach can't. But according to Wexos, my opinion doesnt matter anymore anyway.--Buschkling (talk) 16:00, 16 February 2018 (UTC)
If you want to keep having DJ Lowgey only on v1, then create GP Mario Beach (SuperMario64DS). And archiving a talk page with only 8 head lines is not necessary, and therefor shouldn't. If I remember correctly you and Wiimm already have had an discussion on the author stuff. And you have already said in the version history that you were the one updated the track.
--Wexos (Talk | Contribs) – CT/MK8 Wiki Admin 16:41, 16 February 2018 (UTC)
First a note: Atlas and Wexos are admins since a while. I retired from administration and moderate only rarely. But I'm technical supporter for the Wiiki and (maybe) the good guard in the background. So it is their decision! Anyway, I would allow this kind of achievement.
Another point: I started to mark pages, that are split candidates: category:Split Article. Everyone can mark more articles, and can perform the split. No mod rights needed for it.

Space Island Versions

I recently edited the version history of Space Island so that it goes from Beta -> Beta 2 -> Beta 3, instead of Beta -> Beta 1 -> Beta 2. Are you able to reflect these changes on your archive? Thanks. --KantoEpic (talk) 16:54, 24 March 2018 (UTC)

Merge versions of a track

Hi Wiimm! I'm working on GCN Dino Dino Jungle from George99's version and he gave me permission to modify his version, so I made the KCL, KMP and other stuffs and he made the model and animations. My question is: What do you recommend me?

I'm looking forward to your response. I will release soon. --MrDark35000vr (talk) 22:26, 26 March 2018 (UTC)

  • 1 common page, if it is not a fork and you will continue George99's job with updates.
  • 2 different pages, if you remade the tracks. It's like 2 people remake a Nintendo tracks: Each gets an own page.
  • 2 different pages, if it is a fork. It becomes definitely a fork, if the original version is updated independent of your development.
So I think, the best is here to combine both pages into GCN Dino Dino Jungle (George99 & MrDark35000vr) by moving GCN Dino Dino Jungle (George99) to the new name (keeping the history) and adding the new stuff from GCN Dino Dino Jungle (MrDark35000vr).

Your new WBZ template

Hi. Would I add the WBZ template to disambiguation pages that don't have available versions/ports? Thanks. --KantoEpic (talk) 18:16, 19 May 2018 (UTC)

No, links to empty pages/lists are never good.
btw, I'm not sure abut the default sorting. At the moment is is by file time. Id, family and name area also good candidates.
-- Wiimm (talk) 19:46, 19 May 2018 (UTC)
I personally think that sorting the WBZ files by family IDs can help the most. It might cause less confusion. --KantoEpic (talk) 20:17, 19 May 2018 (UTC)
