Welcome to the Custom Mario Kart Wiiki!

Wiiki.png

Thank you for joining the Custom Mario Kart Wiiki!

Before you get started, Click here to read the Rules page.

Keep the following in mind as you contribute to the site:

  • Make good edits. Always use the SHOW PREVIEW button to check your changes before you use the SAVE button. If you make a mistake, wait 15 minutes before saving the same page a third or fourth time in a row.
  • Saving lots of edits without PREVIEWING will get the moderators on your case, and can get you banned from the Wiiki.
  • If you plan to update a lot of pages in a short period of time, please clear it with a moderator first.
  • Write articles in third person (using words like he, she and they) instead of first person (I, me and we.) User pages and talk pages are the exceptions to this rule.
  • Use correct grammar, spelling and capitalization.
  • If someone posts on your talk page, please post a reply.
  • Sign all of your posts on talk pages with four tildes (~~~~). This will turn into your name and the time you wrote the comment.
  • Don't delete anything from your talk page.
  • Use the Templates on the Main Page when making new articles for content such as Custom Tracks, Texture Hacks, Characters and other releases.
  • We encourage all content makers to create a User Link to put on their release pages and to add it to the Author List.

Thank you! --Atlas (talk) – CT/MK8 Wiki Admin 20:28, 5 October 2017 (UTC)

Canary Bay

Black screen with Canary Bay v3.1. Tested at slots 3.1 and 7.1. -- Wiimm (talk) 16:50, 30 April 2018 (UTC)

It might have to do with the BRRES, which gives me an error when I preview the model in BrawlBox. Currently trying to fix this problem. --KantoEpic (talk) 18:53, 30 April 2018 (UTC)
I've still been trying to fix the blackscreen, but with no success as of yet. --KantoEpic (talk) 18:40, 1 May 2018 (UTC)
The update is now released. I think the slow motion bug is present on some parts of the track, but I'm unsure right now. --KantoEpic (talk) 22:44, 5 May 2018 (UTC)
Worked! But I fo8und another issue: Coming from the boardwalk you can jump to the green plateau with a mushroom and use a short cut. You have to drive at the left, otherwise the lap does not count. -- Wiimm (talk) 12:03, 6 May 2018 (UTC)
Is this true? I thought I optimized the checkpoints in that area... --KantoEpic (talk) 16:13, 6 May 2018 (UTC)
Only now did I realize that the check points in that shortcut area needed to be extended. They should be fixed. --KantoEpic (talk) 22:09, 25 November 2018 (UTC)

Tomb of Anubis

Only an info about Tomb of Anubis: I updated the version numbers of my database following the current state of the page. -- Wiimm (talk) 17:27, 15 July 2018 (UTC)

Cool. Sorry if it may seem a little confusing, as I had to look through files a bunch of times. --KantoEpic (talk) 17:40, 15 July 2018 (UTC)
Each time I get a new file, I compare the version numbers. Sometime updates and versioning are very mysterious and look like scrambled. This is especially true for old tracks, because in the past I get tacks from many different sources. -- Wiimm (talk) 20:40, 15 July 2018 (UTC)
Interesting. Thanks again for editing the version numbers on your archive. --KantoEpic (talk) 23:55, 15 July 2018 (UTC)

Download Links

A lot of tracks need download links. I ask because the WBZ to SZS converter is just confusing to me. Tigerman (talk) 20:51, 18 July 2018 (UTC)

I am aware about that, since most downloads have either been taken down or just don't exist anymore. I've been busy with track updates for a bit, so I haven't gotten to restore downloads as much as I would like to. --KantoEpic (talk) 21:46, 18 July 2018 (UTC)
Ok. Tigerman (talk) 21:53, 18 July 2018 (UTC)
Do you have the download link to Green Loop? Tigerman (talk) 20:09, 21 July 2018 (UTC)
Yes, I do have them. --KantoEpic (talk) 20:30, 21 July 2018 (UTC)
Can you post that one on the page? The old download link was broken so I erased it. Green Loop is the only one I need. Tigerman (talk) 20:32, 21 July 2018 (UTC)
Fixed. --KantoEpic (talk) 20:41, 21 July 2018 (UTC)
Thanks! Tigerman (talk) 20:47, 21 July 2018 (UTC)

Rainbow Galaxy Staff Ghosts

KantoEpic please allow me to share staff ghost for Rainbow Galaxy ! Please tell ANoob that this is just for helping him people have staff ghosts on his race ! Thanks ! --Unsigned comment by Gold'N Zic 23 (talk).

I am perfectly fine with you making ghosts for tracks - that's a good thing. But please don't make pages designed specifically for the ghosts.
You can always create your user page and link the ghosts there. That's perfectly fine. --KantoEpic (talk) 18:28, 29 July 2018 (UTC)
Ok well I Will do this ! Sorry for having insist, I wasn't expecting that this serve to nothing ! You know, I'm new ! --Unsigned comment by Gold'N Zic 23 (talk).

Hi there ! I have posts my staff ghost links on my user page ! If you have Rainbow Galaxy course and you wanna download them, there isn't any problem ;) ! Plus, I work hard when doing the original staff ghost in order to make it nice just like if it is a Nintendo one ! But for the expert staff ghost no ! Lol --Unsigned comment by Gold'N Zic 23 (talk).

Also, it looks nice too ;) --Unsigned comment by Gold'N Zic 23 (talk).

Disambiguation for custom tracks

Do you like to create an template for disambiguation pages for custom tracks? We have several ct with same name, but different variants. Rainbow Jungle and Rainbow Jungle (MrDark35000vr) is an example. I asked you, because your english is very well.

-- Wiimm (talk) 09:18, 1 August 2018 (UTC)

It might work because some custom tracks already have disambiguation pages (Sandy Strait for example). Would there be anyone else on board with that? --KantoEpic (talk) 16:56, 1 August 2018 (UTC)
-- Wiimm (talk) 06:04, 2 August 2018 (UTC)
What if two versions of a track are completely different, such as Grass Road? --KantoEpic (talk) 17:36, 2 August 2018 (UTC)
Then they shouldn't share the same disambiguation page, -- Wiimm (talk) 20:08, 6 August 2018 (UTC)
OK, thank you. --KantoEpic (talk) 20:20, 6 August 2018 (UTC)

Enemy routes in battle arenas

For the moment I'm ready with Enemy routes in battle arenas. Feel free to improve my english (I know, you did it for many pages, and I like it). -- Wiimm (talk) 20:08, 6 August 2018 (UTC)

I'll check for grammar errors whenever I feel like it. --KantoEpic (talk) 20:20, 6 August 2018 (UTC)

PM @ Wii-Homebrew.com

Have you seen my private message? -- Wiimm (talk) 05:14, 11 August 2018 (UTC)

Just replied to it. --KantoEpic (talk) 16:46, 11 August 2018 (UTC)

Candy Mountains

Please don't mess with custom track without asking permission. You are going against the creator's intentions. We intentionally scaled the minimap this way. If you want to make some adjustments for a distribution it's totally fine. However, don't make it an official release. Thank you so much in advance! --MrKoeikoei (talk) 19:35, 24 August 2018 (UTC)

I might as well mark the update as unofficial in that case. You didn't have to undo my entire edit, though. --KantoEpic (talk) 19:46, 24 August 2018 (UTC)
Never mind. Leseratte did that for me when I was typing this message. --KantoEpic (talk) 19:46, 24 August 2018 (UTC)
One more thing: The update was from v3 of MKW Hack Pack − I had to release it. The Published Works Policy says so, which I have been doing for other tracks as well. --KantoEpic (talk) 20:09, 24 August 2018 (UTC)

Notification

Did you notice this: Talk:Delfino Bay -- Wiimm (talk) 11:34, 1 September 2018 (UTC)

Yes, I have. Sorry if I didn't reply to it proper. --KantoEpic (talk) 16:28, 1 September 2018 (UTC)

Warp Pipe Island

I don't understand the reasons to rename Warp Pipe Island to DS Dokan Course. Dokan is a boring long track. Warp* has another and shorter racing line. If I played Warp* I haven't any association with Dokan. Maybe Warp* is inspired by Dokan, but it is definitely not Dokan.

Other reasons to stay at Warp Pipe Island:

  • Total other characteristics.
  • Authors wish.
  • Wario's Lair looks much as N64 Wario Stadium, but is different and has its own name. (there are other examples).

-- Wiimm (talk) 12:09, 20 November 2018 (UTC)

Agreed with this, the name DS Dokan dosent fit at all Zachruff (talk) 17:49, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
No reaction by KantoEpic or Luke Chandler?? -- Wiimm (talk) 14:53, 23 November 2018 (UTC)
I've shown Luke and he agrees 100% it should be called Warp Pipe Island, you should probably just put it back cuz idk where kanto is. -- Zachruff (talk) 14:59, 23 November 2018 (UTC)
Sorry, I've just been doing nothing for the past few days. Anyway, Wiimm, if I were to revert the page back to how it was, should I still keep the {{about}} part of the page, but tweak it a bit? --KantoEpic (talk) 20:34, 23 November 2018 (UTC)
You are the show runner here and do too much edits every days. So a break of some days is a good choice. I would remove the {{about}} part and add a description about the inspiration, Wingcapman's heritage and Luke's finalizing. -- Wiimm (talk) 23:25, 23 November 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for reverting. I haven't time for it because working at the new SZS tools + patcher. -- Wiimm (talk) 08:12, 24 November 2018 (UTC)

Mushroom Creek

Yeah, alright. I'll be short on this one. Changing a Wiki page cutting content because "it's too descriptive" is madness. A Wikipedia page is supposed to give as much information as possible on a certain topic or subject, and a Wiki is a specialized Wikipedia section, nothing more, nothing less. Thus, cutting content from a Wiki page legitimately corresponds to literally preventing a visitor of said page from having half of the information they can have. On the other hand, I think that there are a lot of CT pages that contain informations that are way too concise.

That said, I am going to restore the original page once again, deleting all the name translations I'm uncertain of to avoid misinformative content. I'd also like to point that no information is unneeded in a Wiki.

Peace. --Unsigned comment by Quattro (talk).

Me and Atlas discussed about the page privately. We agreed that it was overly detailed and too long. The overview only really needs a short summary of the track. --KantoEpic (talk) 23:48, 19 February 2019 (UTC)

Snake Circuit

Kanto, I uploaded the wrong file. I took it down because it’s not RC3. It was just a test version for Huili that I accidentally labeled as RC3. Now can you please let me take it down? Toxic Prime (talk) 04:00, 11 July 2019 (UTC)

There's no point in removing it now, since the Published Works Policy says this:
Custom content, once added to the Wiiki, can be included in any Distribution, even if removed from the Wiiki in the future, and the content itself may get mirrored by Wiiki users even if the original download link is deleted.
I told you earlier on Discord that I actually downloaded the file (which you haven't removed, by the way). Regardless, you can always release a new version as RC3.1 (or something like that) and it would be made up for the mistake you made earlier. --KantoEpic (talk) 04:33, 11 July 2019 (UTC)

Oopsie

So I created my User:JoshuaMK page, and tried to link Dongo Cave and Bowser's Challenge to it by editing my name from JoshuaMK to JoshuaMK, but it just says the page doesn't exist. How is this fixed, or will I have to create a whole new page? --Unsigned comment by JoshuaMK (talk).

JoshuaMK is used as a redirect page for your user page, which didn't exist until I made it. --KantoEpic (talk) 07:15, 20 November 2019 (UTC)

Adding a newer YouTube Video

If there are three older versions of a track in the youtube section, which version should I remove in order to keep a newer version up? I deleted 2.0 because it was older, as well as a Time Trial which was not recommended. Trainiax - Waiting for Incendia Castle... 03:23, 26 December 2019 (UTC)

It depends on what the updates actually do and how many there are. Regarding your edit on the Overnight Road page, it wouldn't really be agreeable to have both v2.1 and v2.2 in the Media section and not v2.0 and v2.2. v2.0 doesn't have mipmaps for the rainbow road texture, while v2.1 and v2.2 do, along with object edits. They may not be huge changes, but they're noticeable enough.
For something such as Sky Beach, there's many changes from a version like RC6 to v1.0, and then to v2.0. It would be a different story if there was a different video limit, but it would make scrolling through a page much more of a chore. --KantoEpic (talk) 04:06, 26 December 2019 (UTC)

PAGENAME

Since this was just made in a recent edit on BMD, I was wondering if you could clarify what proper use of the PAGENAME constant/template is meant to be? Over the years I have noticed admins/moderators/other staff swap the "magic word" out for a plain copy of the page title. Contrast this with articles like Mario Kart: Super Circuit, which utilizes the magic word numerous times. Is it a matter of the magic word being longer or shorter than a plain copy of the page's title? I'd like to know this for future edits/articles. --SuperMario64DS (talk) 01:14, 14 February 2020 (UTC)

Most pages on this website don't use the {{PAGENAME}} template in the Overview. I don't see the need for using it outside of the {{Misc-Info}} template box for custom tracks and the like. --KantoEpic (talk) 01:46, 14 February 2020 (UTC)
Alright, thank you. I will try to keep edits inline other standards I can identify in the future. --SuperMario64DS (talk) 01:50, 14 February 2020 (UTC)

Distribution support by ct.wiimm.de

3x Hack Pack included. Many files are unknown (it's ok for me). -- Wiimm (talk) 07:50, 23 February 2020 (UTC)

I'm not surprised at all. The amount of unknown files might increase when I send you the rest of the MKW Hack Pack versions, which I'll get back to soon. --KantoEpic (talk) 07:53, 23 February 2020 (UTC)
First I'll tell you, that you are tired. Second, 3 distribution added. I set v5.openbeta as predecessor of v6.01. -- Wiimm (talk) 07:49, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
There are three more versions left to add: v5.0, v5.0a (which literally only has one track difference) and v6.0. I'll try to finish these up by the weekend. --KantoEpic (talk) 08:22, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
I'll change the predecessor with the release. -- Wiimm (talk) 10:13, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
I added your 3 last uploads. Here you can see the series name (important for distrib links): https://ct.wiimm.de/dis
-- Wiimm (talk) 12:47, 3 April 2020 (UTC)
Awesome! I'm guessing the series name only implies to distributions with more than one version? --KantoEpic (talk) 03:46, 4 April 2020 (UTC)
Correct. -- Wiimm (talk) 06:34, 4 April 2020 (UTC)
Alright. Should I send you direct track and arena files that don't match SHA1 hashes on your archive privately on Wii-Homebrew.com? --KantoEpic (talk) 06:41, 4 April 2020 (UTC)
Yes, but I need name+version to identify the tracks. -- Wiimm (talk) 09:30, 4 April 2020 (UTC)
I found a bug while managing SHA1 aliases. So it's better (less work for both of us) to wait until I fixed it, because some missed filed will be solved. -- Wiimm (talk) 10:31, 4 April 2020 (UTC)
Please follow: User talk:Wiimm#hp-vX -- Wiimm (talk) 14:16, 4 April 2020 (UTC)

Sssniperwolf's Answer From Their Talk Page

It is not really fair that there isn't enough grammar for me to fix, so I have to make an edit of some kind. I'm using some tool and it underlines grammar in red if it detects any errors but I don't get many. It just underlines categories and tells me to space the semi-colons. --Sssniperwolf (talk) 20:04, 7 March 2020 (UTC)

Don't believe a tool but proof by yourself. And it seems, that your tools likes british more then american english. -- Wiimm (talk) 20:31, 7 March 2020 (UTC)
Sniper, the Custom Mario Kart Wiiki isn't meant to be a place that is only being cleaned up by you. In fact, you're not cleaning anything – you're doing the opposite most of the time. While this website is owned by someone from Germany and a few other key users are also from that country or somewhere near it, we use American English for articles, as you can tell. You're welcome to help out with improving articles, but what you've been doing hasn't been helpful. --KantoEpic (talk) 20:43, 7 March 2020 (UTC)

2nd ktpt alternative

I got a hint from Wiimm not to make alternative version with 2nd ktpt yesterday. Can I change Yoshi's Pyramid v1.2.le to v1.2.1? -- Kazuki 12:03, 12 April 2020 (UTC)

Maybe wrong! So for clearness: You got a hint to make only a version with 2nd ktpt. And if you do so, don't make a version without 2nd ktpt, because the first version can be used with and without LE-CODE. -- Wiimm (talk) 12:46, 12 April 2020 (UTC)
I changed the version number because the update essentially does nothing if you're not using LE-CODE. Like Wiimm said, however, if you're going to release an update of a track, don't have a separate version that doesn't include a secondary start position. --KantoEpic (talk) 00:32, 13 April 2020 (UTC)

Bugs

Why do you always remove the "Known Bugs" from my page??? --SitBar (talk) 07:56, 27 April 2020 (UTC)

My mistake. I knew the track did not blackscreen/crash on console, but it only occurs on CTGP Revolution. --KantoEpic (talk) 23:48, 27 April 2020 (UTC)

Disrespectful

What you said about Degeso is incredibly disrespectful. This is literally the reason he didn't release many of his mods in the first place. You shouldn't just delete an unfinished page because you have a bias against the creator. --Bodacious (talk) 22:06, 22 May 2020 (UTC)

There was no way I would have known he was going to release his Legoshi mod at some point. I thought it was going to be something he would give to a few people. I have never held a grudge against Degeso, considering I knew him longer than most – when he was known as DabuDos. I apologize for this. --KantoEpic (talk) 23:05, 22 May 2020 (UTC)

My Thwomp Meadows error

Apologies for this "It is not on Wiimm's archive yet. Regardless, you put the WBZ ID for Thwomp Meadows in all instances of your distribution" I Thought that I was making a link to the distribution on Wiimms CT archive for HackerCop's Track Pack not that I was making a link to thwomp meadows. Thanks for reverting my mistakes --HackerCop (talk) 20:12, 20 June 2020 (UTC)

All good. The update for your distribution is not on Wiimm's archive, which is why I changed your edits. When it is on Wiimm's archive, make sure you are using the right WBZ IDs. --KantoEpic (talk) 21:15, 20 June 2020 (UTC)

Distribution versions in custom tracks

At the custom track distributions section in Just Another Bowser Castle why did you change it from HackerCop's Track Pack (v1.3.1) to HackerCop's Track Pack (v1.1). The track was only included in version 1.3.1. Thanks --HackerCop (talk) 20:15, 22 June 2020 (UTC)

It refers to the version number(s) of a track/arena, not the distribution. --KantoEpic (talk) 20:49, 22 June 2020 (UTC)
I introduced it years ago to document the track version. At that time I wrote "MKW-Fun 2015-02 (v1.3)". So it was clear, that "2015-02" is the version number of the distribution and "v1.3" the track version. But now we have examples, where it is not clear. -- Wiimm (talk) 23:10, 22 June 2020 (UTC)
