About Download v1.6

You provide a ZIP file with rainbow_course.szs and koopa_course.szs, and a single szs labeled as "Road SFX". But there is no difference — all 3 files are identical. -- Wiimm (talk) 08:12, 25 November 2019 (UTC)

Quoting 'Jasperr':
"If you're going to remove a download for whatever reason that may be, consider which SZS is patched to support multiple slots. In this case, it's rainbow_course.szs"
What is that supposed to mean? That edit was entirely useless. Both of the files are completely identical and none of them is "patched" differently to support other slots. They are identical, so, what's the point in changing the link again?

@Jasperr: I wrote identical files and I mean identical files -- Wiimm (talk) 20:31, 25 November 2019 (UTC)
When removing a file, if one of the tracks already supports both slots, but each file is the same, remove the one that doesn't support as many features as the other one would. They're both there simply so the downloader (who may or may not know the course file names) doesn't have to go and look up the specific track that one has more features for. So consider about which one you remove next time since the track may have different properties over different slots. For example: rainbow_course.szs has road SFX and cannon SFX, however, koopa_course.szs only has the cannon SFX. It is also known that Bullet Bills hitting the underneath of roads over the Rainbow Road slot tend to sometimes count the player out of bounds. So there were multiple options for each slot (still bearing in mind that the downloader might not know the file names) for the track.

That is not a reason to have multiple files for each track, just named differently for every slot. What's the point in having one ZIP and two files, all three with the exact same content? No other track has that, and it is utterly useless. The file name doesn't specify the features, the slot does. I could just as easily, when building an image, make the koopa_course.szs have road SFX as well. If you have slot recommendations for your track you can add a sentence like "this track works best on 4.3 and 4.4" and don't have to add duplicate files. Leseratte (talk) 20:50, 25 November 2019 (UTC)
