Did the same I did to the Modeling stuff here. Like before, we can always restore the SZS Modifier tutorials if we need to.

I have the idea that we can create an "HD" Mario Kart Wii with much better textures than the ones from Nintendo for the Nintendo tracks. But i will not do that :P

too bad the wii can't handle that :p

Ok, I have an obj which has a few wrong faces (wasn't finished yet) but when imported with brres editor it looks completly messed up and when opened in szs modifier most textures are messed up.
How can I fix this problem (I used GSU)

Advanced Texturing

I've recently learned how to UV Map in 3DS Max, and I was going to write a tutorial. Should the Page be named Advanced Texturing with a redirect from UV Mapping? Or just UV Mapping? Which seems better? -- SuperMario64DS, 05:08, 16 January 2012 (CET)

This page really isn't about texturing, it's about replacing textures and making Texture Hacks. Texturing normally means "applying textures to a model." Texturing is more or less covered on the 3D Modeling tutorial, since it's really an integral part of creating a good model.
So I don't know for sure. I'm thinking this page should be moved to Replacing Textures since Texture "Hacking" isn't always the goal. This page should probably redirect to a section called "Advanced Texturing" on the 3D modeling tutorial, although that might screw up some older links and they'll need to be fixed. Thoughts? --Jefe 05:29, 17 January 2012 (CET)

How about this page becomes a redirect to texture hacking, and then we make a new page: "Texturing Your Model". It explains all of the baisics of Google Sketchup Texturing, and the Modeling guide directly links to it. The first part says "Baisic Texturing (Google Sketchup)", and the second says "Advanced Texturing (3DS Max)". Is that good? -- SuperMario64DS, 06:15, 17 January 2012 (CET)

Make the tutorial! I think that an UV Mapping tutorial will be good for the wiiki. --NewSuperMoiWii, 17:04, 20 June 2014 (UTC)

Hi, I have found a way to make easy texture mapping in Sketchup! It's not perfect, but it's pretty good anyways: http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/b588/elaaviaports/texturedroadtutorial_zps0de0fdee.jpg. --NewSuperMoiWii (talk) 20:23, 15 December 2014 (UTC)

Character Texture section

RGBA8 does indeed make very high quality textures, but it shouldn't be used on characters because you simply don't need high quality textures. CMPR works fine and is what Nintendo uses (also, BrawlBox's CMPR compression is quite nice, compared to SZS Modifier's). --Ultimate Chimera (Guil) 13:09, 25 March 2013 (UTC)

Yes, that has been edited. RGBA8 does make high quality textures, but that should not be used for characters. It froze my game once (also, RGBA8 lags my game.) CMPR is quite nice in BrawlBox, as you said. ★Shadow★

Replacing textures doesn't have good results

When I replace textures, the textures don't come out with good quality. The replaced textures become sort of pixelated and leave splotches of random colors. I am using SZS Tools for this, when I use BrawlBox, it corrupts the SZS file so I can't don't much with Brawlbox unless there's another way to do this. YoshiGo99 (talk) 01:00, 3 December 2016 (UTC)

This way, you should know that you shouldn't save a SZS with BrawlBox. The easiest way to proceed is by editing each BRRES with BrawlBox (no, BrawlBox doesn't corrupt BRRES files when saving, only SZS), and then replace them with CTools, SZS Modifier or Wiimms SZS Tools. Also, please use the Show Preview button before saving many times. The allowed limit to save a page is 2 times in 15 minutes, so be careful with that. —Atlas (talk) 01:19, 3 December 2016 (UTC)

Help on starting a Track Texture Hack

Hello,

I would like to know what free image editing program is best for editing course textures (doing a palette swap on the default textures).

Any help would be grateful. (;-D)

PS: This is going to my first texture hack!

Replace CTools with Brawlcrate

The year is 2022 and the main place of CT information says to use CTools for texture hacks. I would do the edits, but I am not sure about formatting. It is as simple as going down to the Textures NW4R folder, right clicking on a tex0, possibly exporting as a png, and then hitting replace, and choosing the correct format for the png (probably cmpr, although the explanation can probably link back to creating a brres with brawlcrate). --Unsigned comment by TL (talk).

This page could use an overhaul, so I am in favour of your opinion. --KantoEpic (talk) 00:55, 18 May 2022 (UTC)
