Menu Music?

Nice work. Does this work with menu music? --banjo2 (talk)

It only works for music used in BRSTM files. The menu music is internally into the BRSAR file itself. See revo_kart.brsar. —Atlas (talk) – CT/MK8 Wiki Admin 02:43, 18 July 2017 (UTC)
Menu music doesn't need to be patched. This will, however, patch loop points of music that is usually in the BRSAR, but you used tricks to make it use an external file (which is how people change online menu music, as it is a very difficult to modify MIDI-like sequence file). --Cotni (talk|contribs) 11:02, 18 July 2017 (UTC)

A few questions

Hello, I have a few questions regarding the tool: Does it replace the BRSAR Patcher we used to use in the past of MKWii modding? I mean, if I added some new songs, do I just run the program and it patches every new BRSTM I added? And also, is there any advantages of using this tool instead of Automatic BRSAR Patching feature when running CTGP? --Sptran (talk) 15:09, 25 July 2017 (UTC)

This tool maximizes all loop points in an instant. Once you patch it (which takes 3 seconds), there is no need to ever do it again for that BRSAR. It also finds the values instead of assuming the locations from the default BRSAR, so it won't corrupt BRSARs with modified sounds (unlike the old tool).
Unlike CTGP, this also finds loop points for BRSEQs (which are like MIDIs). So if you have used some tricks to, for example, modify online menu music, this tool will patch that whereas CTGP won't. Of course, this tool also works for other distros. (Btw, it's recommended to disable Automatic BRSAR Patching once you've used this tool). --Cotni (talk|contribs) 15:47, 25 July 2017 (UTC)
Thank you very much. So if I'm not mistaken I can add looped BRSTMs with any duration and they will still not cut off, right? Also, does it count for BRWAVs as well? I mean, can I add a voice clip or, for example, change the title theme or the starman theme so it's longer than the original, and still not cut off?
Besides, this is not really relative to this tool, but since we're talking about the BRSAR, is there a way to fix the Goomba/Piranha Plant incorrect sounds that happens when you replace any voice clip in the BRSAR? (the Goomba footsteps sounds get replaced by Lakitu's reverse sound, and with Piranha Plant, the sound for when you collect a coin plays when it bites someone)
And lastly, is there a tutorial for modifying the online music like you said? Now that I know it's possible, I'm kinda interested. --Sptran (talk) 12:18, 26 July 2017 (UTC)
Hey Sptran, I think this video may help you out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbEab4UNQQk --banjo2 (talk)
You can add looped BRSTMs with any duration, as long as they have less than 2147483647 samples (you cannot create bigger BRSTMs). This patcher does NOT patch internal files, that's currently not possible. For each sound you replace from any BRBNK with a bigger one (doesn't mean it's just longer, it can have a bigger frequency or 2 channels instead of 1), you will ran out more and more each time of BRSAR memory, until it cannot play sounds from the same GRP anymore (for example, you put a one minute star music, this will make all sounds of the GRP be mutted: indexes 89, 435 and 688).
About the Goomba or Piranha Plant sounds, they are controlled by their correspondant BRASD files, found into the course. I've inspected Mario Kart Wii's RAM, and it mispatches BRASD files whenever the BRSAR size has been modified, for some unknown reason.
You can follow the tutorial banjo2 posted, or you can follow mine here.

Thank you, if I'm correct, 2147483647 samples is around 1 hour and 40 minutes! And at least, we now know the reason of the BRASD problem :D.
Also, do you have more private tutorials, like the one you linked, for making other kind of mods (like changing the online course select screen image, etc), like the ones you usually have in your modpack? Specially UI hacks, since lately there has been lately a lot of those colorful and crazy UI hacks circulating on Youtube MKWii vids. --Sptran (talk) 20:25, 26 July 2017 (UTC)
The number of samples does not depend only on the audio length, it also depends on the frequency and number of channels (like BRWAV).
About the tutorials, I don't have many. You can find some template zips on my public MKWii released files MediaFire folder. —Atlas (talk) – CT/MK8 Wiki Admin 21:58, 26 July 2017 (UTC)
