:::: Do you think the Mario Kart custom track scene would be where it is now if nobody were allowed to do anything? If Chadderz made his SZS Modifier private-use only, if Wiimm only used WIT and WSZST for own tracks (or tracks of authors he personally knows), and all the other tools and features everyone uses? No. We would still be creating shitty tracks with Paint. Taking something that is already present and improving it is the whole point of a wiki and a community. It is not like anyone tried to steal any credit for tracks.

::How long are we going to wait for Wexos to comment? Would it be a problem in any way if Sniki's update was called "Beta 2-alt1"? I'd add the update with that name, but I don't think reverting an admin's edit as a normal user is a good idea. --Cotni (talk|contribs) 22:49, 11 May 2018 (UTC)

BUG

Don't use more than 1 lap counter check point. otherwise it leads to a Position Jump Bug if playing online ⇒ Check_Point#Lap_counter -- Wiimm (talk) 13:04, 5 March 2016 (UTC)

I've got told that it leads to position jump bug. There will be an update that fixes this and some more things.

Snikis Update

Ok obviously we have to deal with this situation again....unfortunately. In my oppinion Snikis Update is great: It fixes a lot of bugs and make the ending section a lot more appealing for playing with MKW physics. Of course he should have asked Wexos and FunkyDude first just to be polite; but on the other hand everyone can make alterations to any content on the wiki and publish it (or at least this is how it should be). This goes for simple texture hacks, for Huilis removal of objects for his own reasons and also for big alterations to a track like Sniki did to Maka Wuhu here. So i suggest the following: Either mark the Update as inofficial and have both Download links in the version history; or make a second info Box like on a lot of pages that had major tracks remakes or create an entirely new wikipage for snikis update where he will give credit to Wexos and FunkyDude.

And a last question: Why would you rather have a port that is rejected from ctgp and other distributions (and played by noone) then an inofficial update that fixes all the issues that caused the rejection of adding it to ctgp (so a lot people can enjoy the track)??? "If you are editing another author's work, first contact the author of the original content. If he officially allows you to edit his work, do so and release it as update. If the author claims he will do an update himself, give him a reasonable amount of time to do so. If the author disagrees with your edit, you can still edit the content and post it as an update, but you must leave a download link to the last official version of the original creator on the page, too." From our Published Works Policy.
FunkyDude approves this update.
I'm still very curious as to why Wexos rejected this update. He has not updated the track in the past 2 years, nor given any indication that he will make the ending section playable in Mario Kart Wii.
My questions for Wexos: what would you do if CTGP or Wiimms Fun added Sniki's version? What is wrong with allowing Sniki's version to exist as a branch, like Torran's downgrades to Mansion of Madness? --Cotni (talk|contribs) 13:31, 9 May 2018 (UTC)
I also like Snikis update more. So please accept it Wexos. --Horsti12 (talk) 19:38, 9 May 2018 (UTC)
I'm not going to say much yet, except this: since Wexos is a co-author and doesn't like the update, we can't really do anything until I have a discussion with him and we come to a consensus. --FunkyDude15 (talk) 22:20, 9 May 2018 (UTC)
"we can't really do anything until ..." - yes, we can. You can post it as an unofficial update even without the authors consent, as stated in the rules. Didn't we already have this discussion multiple times with different tracks? Everything being posted to this Wiki can be changed by anyone.
This wiiki more and more becomes a gigantic kindergarden with everyone claiming "But I DID THAT, that is MINE and nobody DARE touch it". This is a wiki, the information, tracks and data are public and can be changed by anyone. All the additional rules are about is how exactly the result is being presented - on the same page or on a new one and as official or unofficial update.
Do you think the Mario Kart custom track scene would be where it is now if nobody were allowed to do anything? If Chadderz made his SZS Modifier private-use only, if Wiimm only used WIT and WSZST for own tracks (or tracks of authors he personally knows), and all the other tools and features everyone uses? No. We would still be creating shitty tracks with Paint. Taking something that is already present and improving it is the whole point of a wiki and a community. How long are we going to wait for Wexos to comment? Would it be a problem in any way if Sniki's update was called "Beta 2-alt1"? I'd add the update with that name, but I don't think reverting an admin's edit as a normal user is a good idea. --Cotni (talk|contribs) 22:49, 11 May 2018 (UTC)
