The Mario Kart Channel can be installed into the wii menu if you wish, it also has a few options.
The main use's for the Mario Kart Channel are to download and play competitions, veiw Mario Kart Wii Rankings (Which are mostly fake times) and download and vs random Ghost data's.
There is also the option to go into your friend list, but that one is useless unless you have the Mario Kart Channel installed on your System Menu.
