Introduction

Welcome to the Custom Track Wiiki!

Before you get started, we suggest familiarizing yourself with how to use a wiki if you haven't already.

Wikipedia also features an excellent tutorial that you may find relevant: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Tutorial

Don't forget to read the Wiiki Rules! Failure to do so will result in warnings or bans if necessary.

Category Tutorial

On this Wiiki, user-created content is categorized for easy sorting. The table below depicts the possible categories that you may choose from:

Track Battle Character Vehicle Misc[1]
Custom Created by you or your team and only by you or your team.
Retro Any content from games within the Mario Kart series.[2]
Import Any content from other games not native to the Mario Kart series.
Texture Any texture or other modifications of existing content that are wifi safe.[3]
Edit Any other modifications of existing content that are not wifi safe.[3]
  1. Columns may expand as needed.
  2. All Mario Kart tracks, even tracks from Mario Kart 7 and on, are classified under this category, contrary to its name. This also includes the Arcade games.
  3. 3.0 3.1 Wifi Safe - Modified content that behaves the same as the original content.
Any modifications that change collision/solidity or significantly alter the performance of the game are not wifi safe.

First, choose 1 column entry and 1 row entry, e.g. Track/Custom, Misc/Edit, etc. Once you've classified your content, proceed down the page.

  • ABB Retro Track: Nintendo Platform Abbreviation (ABB) followed by the name of the Retro Track. Choose this if your content is a track from the Mario Kart series. However, if your page name is already taken...
  • ABB Retro Track (Your Name): Nintendo Platform Abbreviation (ABB) followed by the name of the Retro Track followed by your name (in parenthesis). Choose this if your content is a Retro Track that has already been made by someone else.
  • GAME Import Track: Game Abbreviation (GAME) followed by the name of the Import Track. Choose this if your content is a Track from another game outside of the Mario Kart series.
  • Texture Hack (Textured Track Texture): The name of your Texture Hack followed by the name of the Textured Track and "Texture" all in parenthesis. Choose this if your content is a Texture Hack of another Track.
  • Edit Hack (Edited Track Edit): The name of your Edit Hack followed by the name of the Edited Track and "Edit" all in parenthesis. Choose this if your content is an Edit Hack of another Track.

Existing Examples:

It is important that you first check if the page name you want is taken. The Wiiki offers search functions on the left sidebar to assist with this. If your page name is indeed taken, you must either make a different name or post in the page's discussion for permission to reuse it. Conflicts with naming can be handled by Wiiki Moderators and Administrators if necessary.

Now you are ready to create the page. Go to the Page Creation Tutorial next.
