Overview
Big Blue is a track from the SNES game F-Zero. It is the second course of the game, and is famous for its distinctive theme song. Much like Mario Circuit or Bowser's Castle, Big Blue is a recurring venue in subsequent F-Zero games. Big Blue levels have been featured in other game series including Super Smash Bros. Melee and Brawl, and most recently, Mario Kart 8 as part of the Animal Crossing × Mario Kart 8 downloadable content pack. A detailed map of the original SNES track from snesmaps.com was traced in SketchUp to ensure an accurate track layout.
Features
Big Blue is a fairly simple track with a wide-open ocean setting. It features a long straight-away and a few patches of off-road, and a single slippery turn just before reaching the finish line. The level features working intro flyby and replay cameras. It also works well in split screen multiplayer.
Differences from the original
Since karts are slower than F-Zero machines, the energy recharge area has been converted to a boost pad and additional boost panels are placed on the track as in White Land I. In the speed-modified version found in CTGP Revolution, some of the boost panels are difficult to use without hitting the edges of the track. The orange 'magnetic repulsors' that border the track spin players out when touched and are raised at an angle as in F-Zero X. This version has futuristic bio domes and buildings, inspired by the Super Smash Bros. Melee stage.

Overview
JorisMKW unofficially updated Jefe's version of F-Zero Big Blue. The most noticable element of this version is that the sides of the road are drivable, instead of cactus collision as in Jefe's original version. A shroomspot was added and the visuals have been slightly changed as well to make the track more a Mario Kart Wii themed track than a F-Zero track. The KCL and KMP of Jefe's version have been improved as well as a reduction of polygons. The speed mod has also been lowered from x2 to 1,7. This version is created only with the intention to improve gameplay, and is in no way meant to replace the official version of F-Zero Big Blue.
Credits
- Full credit for the creation of the original F-Zero Big Blue goes to Jefe.
- Note: This version (v1.0) was not authorized by Jefe. He objected to the divergence from the original F-Zero theme, among other issues, and asked JorisMKW to prepare another version that would satisfy both authors. Jefe requests that this version not be added to distributions.
