Overview

Rock Rock Mountain is the seventh track created by kHacker35000vr and his third using SketchUp. This is the first custom track ever to be based off a Mario Kart 7 track. The final model of the course is very similar to the original 3DS version, but with minor changes and less pipes and ramps that were mainly used for gliding, which is not present. The scale of the road is small compared to the original and very small compared to other Mario Kart Wii tracks. The ramps after the big bridge are replaced by woodboxes to serve as obstacles.

Development

The development of Rock Rock Mountain started in March 2012. Because the model had to be very advanced, it had been in development for 2 months in SketchUp, and another 3 months in 3ds Max. The textures are from original Nintendo tracks and edited by WorldsBoss. Baoulettes converted the model to a 3ds Max file and helped make the model work in 3ds Max and in BrawlBox. The KMP had been in development since July, along the 3ds Max business, and was the last thing to be finished before the release. The last weeks before release were especially work in BrawlBox, where Torran helped a lot. There were some problems with the shadows of the trees and later when the shadows were fixed by Torran, the boost pads had a new mapping; this mapping is still in the final version. The track was finally released mid-August, after a race against the clock, only hours before kHacker35000vr was leaving for 2 weeks. The bugs discovered while testing had minor fixes and where further left alone. Those bugs were fixed a month later, but due to a nasty freeze and the lack of motivation, v1.1 has not been released yet.

Reception

RC3 was downloaded 100 times in the first 2 weeks after its release and reached 400 downloads in October 2012. The track has received a lot of criticism. Many critics have been complaining about the black hole under the track, the bright textures, the small scale, and the lack of some details.
